Calling Dingle, Champs, etc., I've looked at the pictures of your beautiful cards and I would like to have a go myself at making some myself.

Where do I start? Is there a basic kit I can get and where from? Is it pricey? (Would quite like to have a go at Christmas cards as this is looming!).

Thanks all!

Well.......they uploaded, so I'm available for comments, critical and otherwise! Please be kind...

Chinchilla · 05/10/2004 19:29

Bump.

Dingle · 05/10/2004 20:14

They're great!I love the boot one Chinchilla, did you make it by hand or use a template? The ones with the little hearts and wire are very effective too. Got interrupted-will go back in and have another look in a minute. I've loaded a couple more too-this technology stuff is great isn't it!!!

Chinchilla · 05/10/2004 20:19

Thanks Dingle. Yes, I did the boot by hand, and the handbag. Those cards always sell well.

mummysurfer · 05/10/2004 20:21

hello everyone,
i've kept looking at the album in anticipation...haven't looked tonight yet so i'm off there now.

mummysurfer · 05/10/2004 20:27

chicchilla, they're fantastic. do you have a sizzix machine or are they all free hand drawn and vcut?
how did you do the path on the new home card?
what is the transparent panel over the butterflies and hearts, is it vellum? how did you attach it without any signs of glue?
ooo, sorry, just being nosey.

looks like dingle has added some to the album too.
will return soon

Chinchilla · 05/10/2004 20:33

No Sizzix machine - all my own design. The path is hand drawn with a silver pen...little circles to look like stones. The butterfly one is a square of card with a wide ribbon overlaid. The butterflies are stuck onto thae ribbon.

mummysurfer · 05/10/2004 20:36

chinchilla, it looked like something was over the top. optical illusion??? i'm off for another look

Dingle · 05/10/2004 20:37

I was wondering about the path too!! What's coming out of the chimney?
How's the swap going ms? When are they likely to be loaded? Must start thinking XMAS, XMAS, XMAS!!

Chinchilla · 05/10/2004 20:37

Dingle - the ones you have added are AMAZING! I did a footie one a bit like that for a commission, but yours looks really professional. The dolls face one is FAB.

Chinchilla · 05/10/2004 20:38

Dingle, it's grey mulberry paper, meant to look like smoke!

Dingle · 05/10/2004 20:41

I know I sound really sad here, but sometimes I wish I knew more "crafty" people local to me. It would be so nice to have a get together try out different products & techniques and show each others work in person!buttoo!!

Chinchilla · 05/10/2004 20:41

Yes, I agree. The photos are not the same as looking at the real thing.

Chinchilla · 05/10/2004 20:43

Right, I'm off now, as I need an early night (bad night with ds last night). I have been having a really bad few days, low moods and paranoia, but tonight on MN has made me smile! Thanks everyone.

mummysurfer · 05/10/2004 20:45

yes chinchilla, i see it as it is now. iyswim

dingle your 2 kiddie cards are lovely. how did you do that doll? the colours go so well. i think that is the secret to the wow factor; having a good eye for colours and tones/hues.

card swap - we are just waiting for Bunglie's; she put them in the post on Sat/Mon so should be with me anyday. champs arrived today and they are the only ones i haven't yet photographed. the rest are on my PC and raedy to be uploaded so hopefully by the end of the week.

do any of you buy Crafts Beautiful mag? there are some fantasitc bead stars in the Nov issue that i thought i'd have a go at. BUT i can't make head nor tail of the instructions. has anyone else seen this and could enlighten me. it's not on their website yet, but unless i can work it out i will email them to ask for help.

Dingle · 05/10/2004 20:45

Anyway, must get off of here. Need to get some bits organised to do while I'm watching Francis Tuesday!

(off I go to the depths of my consevatory to rumage round all the crafty bits spread on every surface going!!Uuhhmm! What shall I do tonight with all this inspiration floating round my tiny brain!)

melsy · 05/10/2004 20:50

Id love to see them , but cant seem to access them . Ive been making cards since I was in my early 20s , shame I didnt get picturs of a lot of those. It all stemmed from my degree and needed to create!!!I used to cut out and sew all my own shapes toegetehr and sew all the edges with ribbon and stuff ,it used to take HOURS and HOURS now I cut corners and buy ready made shapes and designs with padded sticky bits and have a template in micrsoft powerpoint. I do a lovely front page then a poem about the person.

You are very talented, as are all the other crafters who have posted their pics and taken part in the swap.
Melsy, hi!! long time no see please feel free to post some of your lovely cards on the yahoo album so we can have a look (nosey...moi??!!)

layla · 06/10/2004 12:25

Hi Chinchilla, wow I've only got a minute before I go to work but I had to post.Your cards are absolutely gorgeous. You're so clever to do it all by hand. They look so professional.I love your new home one and the cat and the hearts etc etc. You've given me a few ideas on layout something I'm rather weak at.You'll probably think mine all look the same and have too many tags on I'm mad about tags.

Should be posting mine on there soon.My boss who is doing them just has to have a fiddle with them he's already photographed them.

Melsy hi,do post yours too.I'd love to see them.

Oh yes I nearly forgot Dingle how did you do that dolls face its really fantastic.Yours are so much better than you ever see in the shops.

Isn't this fun seeing everybodies work.Well I better be off now speak to you all soon.
