If you went to town and wanted to either change your baby, or feed them in private.........

which shop would you go to in the hopes of finding facilities available to you??

oh and perhaps should add a small town with no "big" shops like John Lewis, Debenhams or Mothercare..

boots. we do have one provided by the council but it stinks and for some reason it is always full of gaggles of teenage girls (without babies)

Boots? Our out of town Boots has facilities, but not the one in town.

If I was in a small town I didn't know, I would go back to the car.

aha - I was waiting for someone to mention boots.

Went to town with the DS's today and DS3 needed changing, I was right outside Boots and knew that they'd have one.........or so I thought. It turns out they USED to have one, but no longer do. Was told that "the toilets down near the car park have changing facilities"

Off I wandered to find that the Council provided "changing facilities" was no more than a dirty toilet (about the same size/shape as a toilet for the disabled), with a small surface area next to the sink (with a bit of a ridge to stop them falling off) and 2 bins (one of which smelled like it hadn't been emptied for some time, the other almost full).

Nothing to wipe the surface down/put on the surface to make it more comfortable/hygenic and no seat if you wanted to sit and feed.

AFAIK that's the ONLY baby changing facility in the town centre, the only other one I know of is in Morrisons just as you're leaving town (thankfully it's a nice one). But I was VERY p*ssed off.

Thinking of writing to Boots AND the Council to complain......

Hated mothercare, awful skinny bench to feed on, to close to changing mats.

Boots was Ok once I rearranged to chairs for feeding to give a bit of elbow and pram room.

John Lewis always a good bet, bit more room.

Large new shooping centres usually have good facilities. Buchanan Galleried in Glasgow roomy, St enoch centre very hard to get to can't remeber to facilities though.

Supermarkets and older small shooping centres usually have baby changing in the disabled loo, crap for feeding and crap for any disabled person needing to use the loo urgently.

Which town, I am sure you will get feeback.

Our local boots have changed the baby room into a consultation room for the Pharmacist. Now they weigh people and persuade them to join their weight loss programme in a room that must still have that whiff of dirty nappies it always had.
Maybe it helps with appetite control?

If you're ever in Leamington, they have lovely facilities in the shopping centre, with rocking chairs to feed in.

Skribble - actually the Morrisons Supermarket facilities on the edge of town are really nice. Seperate from the disabled loo, there's a proper changing mat thingy (one of those set into the top), bins emptied regularly, those big paper towel things that you can put on the changing mat to make it more hygenic. Then there's a little toilet (in a proper cubicle) and a small cubicle next to the toilet one with a nice chair and enough space to get a pram/pushchair in.

Just the rest of town is utter sh*t (which is madness as there are babies EVERYWHERE (when I came out of the cr&ppy council run one there was a poor woman chaning her tiny baby (cant' have been more than 1-2 weeks old) on the surface between the sinks ).

Oh and as for feedback - it's Wellingborough - but I don't think there's many of us around on MN from there......

Our Morrisons is shit, it used to be OK when first opened, but it has gone downhill now I was in it today and it was so grotty and grimy, the cleaner needs sacking or perhaps they need to employ one.

I wouldn't be bothered about doing it in private, so would probably just look for a park bench with a nice view for feeding, or a quiet patch of grass for a change.
