it's for kids along with Lord of the Rings and all that other make-believe nonsense.

FrayedKnot · 20/07/2007 20:09

Me

I have seen the first film

I imagine if I had kids of the right age I would have got into it.

I can;t really see why adults are so into it.

And what's the midnight thing about, why can;t they start selling it at 9am?

portonovo · 20/07/2007 20:10

Make-believe nonsense. I suppose that's every work of fiction ruled out then.

NannyL · 20/07/2007 20:10

I havent bought any...

but just last thursday i started reading HP1 and am nor nearly finished HP 2...

intend to read them all in order, but 10 days ago i had no plans to read them ever.... but now im hookeed!

portonovo · 20/07/2007 20:11

I think many adults like it because it's well written and she does tell a good story. I had the first books well before any of my children were old enough for them, and well before all the hype began.

The midnight thing is just marketing nonsense though.

JoanCrawford · 20/07/2007 20:12

Me.

I can understand it for the kids and think it's wonderful that a book can generate this excitement and enthusiasm in children at an age where many stop reading.

But for me, it's a big fat no!

WigWamBam · 20/07/2007 20:18

Me.

There are plenty of well-written novels for aults out there that I haven't read yet; I have no interest in children's books.

harpsichordcuddler · 20/07/2007 20:20

me. I did read the first one, which I thought was dull and unforgiveably derivative.

drosophila · 20/07/2007 20:21

I'm with you wigwam. I actually tried ot read them sucumbed to the pressure but couldn't get past the second chapter. DP tells me that Urusla Le Quinn (Sp?) is far better at children's books along similar themes.

ComeOVeneer · 20/07/2007 20:22

Me, although I have seen the films.

JoMa · 20/07/2007 20:24

me
haven't read any of the books or seen any of the films
and I have no desire to start now

AlistairSim · 20/07/2007 20:25

Harry who?

Spidermama · 20/07/2007 20:27

Me and mine.

Tosh.

I feel irritation swiftly followed by guilt every time I hear the story of people queueing for hours and having Potter parties and all that bollocks. Why do I feel irritated instead of just neutral or even happy for them?
Perhaps it's because I'm turning in to my Mum.

HedTwigg · 20/07/2007 20:28

me

whomovedmychocolate · 20/07/2007 20:29

Last one was a stinky pile of poo so won't be buying this one. It was okay for two books but after that just got to esoteric and weird.

Besides, the plot was leaked a few weeks back on t'internet so it's lost any vestiges of appeal for me.

FuriousGeorge · 20/07/2007 20:35

me.I borrowed one & read it,but apart from wishing that I'd thought of it first, never gave it another thought.

DarrellRivers · 20/07/2007 20:39

ps who is shesherazade the goat,
I take it named after the upper class beautiful but slightly twitish shesherazade goldsmith

charliecat · 20/07/2007 20:42

Me. I am on page 11 of the first book for the 2nd time and I cant do it.
I WANT too. There MUST be somethign in the hype. But I cant get past page 11.
Borrowed, not brought.

Hulababy · 20/07/2007 20:43

I have read them, and enjoyed them too. But DH has tried and failed to get into them.

pointydog · 20/07/2007 20:46

me

but dd2 is buying them and I do like the films. I wouldn't consider buying a book for myself

tegan · 20/07/2007 20:55

Never read the books or seen the films and no intention of ever doing either

Heathcliffscathy · 20/07/2007 20:56
