Just warming up the seats in anticipation for tonight!! Actually thought WLTM had finished so even more excited!!!

bossykate - WLTM is on at 9.00 tonight (same time as Friends Reunited thing) PM is on at 9.00 tomorrow. Oh bliss! You'll have to ring home and get the video set!!

aargh, I missed the final date - the phone rang!!! But why would ANYONE tell that story about the dog licking her boyfriend's balls????

I thought they ought to send her to an endocrinologist. Fat, thin hair and acne spells classic case of ovarian cysts to me

Have to agree. The transformation wasn't so dramatic - just needed a few edges sanding off, as it were.

Re: WLTM - I felt really sorry for her tonight - she WAS dumpy and her hair really was sad - is it just me or did those 'extensions' not really do much at all? When she was showing her final 'date', I thought I could still see bald patches. I felt uncomfortable through most of it, and yes, the transformation was most underwhelming. Great stuff though - in fact, in next week's Radio Times, there's a letter from one of the participants who was defending the show after the 3 'experts' had been slagged off. He said it was the best thing that had happened to him and they were true experts and v. helpful. Can't remember his name though.....

I saw the letter in the RT too, he was the one who had an odd collection of childrens toys and had never eaten spaghetti carbonara!
I also didn't think last nights was that good. However, although they couldn't do much with her appearance I thought the guy who taught her about conversation was brilliant. I also thought she took it all pretty well as there was some harsh critisism. Felt really bad for her re: her hair, what a horrible thing to have to cope with.

Yes she was certainly the least altered - but in a way it was good that they took someone who wasn't an obvious 'sad' case loser type with no idea at all, as I think it showed that even those of us who don't think we have a 'problem' could learn from what they do ( those of us who need to date! I watch it thinkning 'THANK GOD I DON'T DO THAT ANYMORE'!!!!!)
I'll definitely 'review' my wardrobe next time I have some money to spend in the light of their comments.

I do think they do a great job most of the time and seem to really transform people's lives. That guy was such a weirdo before (did you see the bit where he gave his stuffed hamster to the really bewildered child next door??) and seemed very sweet and normal afterwards. No wonder he was grateful. His life would have been hell without them. But I seriously think the girl last night (32? She looked about 52 before) would have benefitted from a visit to a doctor. The skin, weight and hair problems really looked like a hormonal problem to me, very probably polycystic ovaries. I really hope she finds someone, and yes, I'm incredibly grateful I don't have to date anymore.

I agree that last night's prog was not nearly as good as previous shows - did feel very sorry for her.

Tinker, the final date seemed to go well but I got the impression that she thought that romance would blossom but he was less sure but thought they woould remain friends for life.

Hope perfect match is better than last night's WLTM.

I felt like crying for her when she rang the man with the welsh name that she was supposed to be going out on a date with from the hairdressers and he blew her out. Not nice for anyone, but on national television that must have been appalling.

It's a good programme but I can't help wondering if there are people that they do it with sho they don't show - do you think that they have a 100% success rate with everyone?

What Not To Wear is on in WLTM's place next week!!

That's a good point Zoe, about ones that don't work out. I've always wondered (well, not always, obviously) how they manage to always secure a date for the final bit. If they can secure one that easily did they really need the programme? There must be lot of clever editing.

I bet there aren't any that they don't show. That would be far too expensive. And I expect they don't get one easily, half the time they just end up begging all their friends to find them a single man to go out with. I think I could fix up almost anyone with one date, if I was asked by someone really desperate, so I don't think that's so tricky. I think the real transformation is in self confidence and happiness and that's what I find so appealing about the programme. I also think it's incredible what focussing on the externals can do for someone - ie changing their hair and clothes and their verbal tics. I bet it's 1000 times more effective than therapy for most people. There's another ep next week, isn't there? They plugged it at the end of the last one. What Not To Wear is coming back though, and they are including celebs and a man in the series, and I wonder how that will work. One of the celebs is Lesley Joseph from Birds of a Feather, and boy does she need a makeover.

She may be a lovely person but she seriously gives me the willies to look at.

i thought last night's episode ended rather surprisingly. i thought we were in for another class barrier outcome - third time lucky i suppose. i have found it rather depressing how big a part "class" seems to play in this from what i have seen so far - perhaps that's rather naive of me.

i thought the aussie guy was the nicest! the chef chap seemed like such a good bet but totally crumpled when he received a text message from his ex! uh oh! but the rugby chap grew on me as i saw more of him. well i wonder if they're still together?

Didn't catch all of last night's but alarm bells rang when the first guy started talking about his ex - not a good move.

The one she ended up with I liked from teh start but missed the bit where she began to change towards him. Why did she say she liked him/chnaged her mind about him?

Also, how old was she? She only looked early/mid 20's but had been in relationships for last 10 years. I know that's poss but I would have thought a break would be a good idea in one so young!!!
