I have just been shopping on my own and bought my wedding dress, with no one's opinion but mine and four women in the shop who told me I looked magnificent - but they would, wouldn't they?

and it's red!!

Hey, baby, if you've got it, flaunt it! If you like it you will feel confident in it and carry it off!

If you really are unsure why not get a couple of friends' opinions. You can always take the dress back if they give it the thumbs-down.

Undoubtedly they will think you look gorgeous though

Tissy · 02/09/2004 14:05

mine was red, and I swear I didn't know about Paula Yates at that point!

Mine was red silk, but a fairly classic style with long sleeves, button up front and shawl collar. Looked a bit Edwardian, IYKWIM.

Do you ahve a picture so we can all admire it?

Titania · 02/09/2004 14:06

i would have loved a red wedding dress...didnt have the guts to wear one though....you go girl!!! Bet it looks fab!!

Kayleigh · 02/09/2004 14:07

Better still put it on, take a picture, post it and you'll get more than a couple of views !!

I'm sure you will look stunning. As long as you are happy in it that's all that matters.

Laydeeee in redddddddd........

JJ · 02/09/2004 14:07

Very exciting! I'm sure you'll look gorgeous.

toorevealing · 02/09/2004 14:11

I had deep red velvet top like a riding jacket with a tale iyswim and pale gold long silk skirt with a small train (sp). When's the date? I got married around christmas time. I'm sure you'll look stunning.

Kayleigh · 02/09/2004 14:14

Please can we have more info lillibet. Is it long, short, with train, what neckline etc etc etc .....

need to picture you as you walk down the aisle to Chris de Burgh

lilibet · 02/09/2004 14:16

wobblyknicks · 02/09/2004 14:19

OMG - that is GORGEOUS!!! You've got nothing to worry about - you'll look stunning, so just enjoy!!!

Tommy · 02/09/2004 14:19

WOW! Gorgeous

hatter · 02/09/2004 14:21

lilibet - it's stunning - classic, under-stated style with the blow me down red - it's absolutely fantastic. Having bought it without any advice I'd be really tempted not to show or tell ANYONE. You'll hear the gasps (good gasps, I mean!) when you walk in. What flowers will you have? So exciting...

libb · 02/09/2004 14:22

I got married in a purpley red - it was brilliant with the gold shawl. White is irrelavent (sp?) these days anyway.

You will look wonderful and good for you! love that dress very much.

lilibet · 02/09/2004 14:22

I do have ample bosoms and it makes my cleavage look very good, and its boned and I get laced in so it also makes my waist look nice but is that what you want in a small baptist church??

there's a thought Kayleigh - bring back boning and lacing!!

JJ · 02/09/2004 14:22

acnebride · 02/09/2004 14:23

fantastic, classy and vibrant!

moniker · 02/09/2004 14:23

It's beautiful - gorgeous deep red and very elegant. I had a red wedding dress too (and a christmas wedding) which I still love. Excellent choice!

Fio2 · 02/09/2004 14:24

its lovely. i actually have a thing for red wedding dresses, they are gorgeous. i hadnt the right skintone myself to carry it off!

oh you are going to have a lovely day and you so so deserve it

lilibet · 02/09/2004 14:24

I had already decided on a red and cream colour sche,e but it was supposed to be my daughter who was in red and me in cream. I was having dark red cala lillies but I think that will have to change as they wont show properely

libb · 02/09/2004 14:24

ps: I was also told off by my mum " can't see why you can't do traditional etc etc ..."

Me, "pardon? what was that?..."

Hulababy · 02/09/2004 14:25

Fabulaous dress. I am sure you will look stunning. I love the idea of not telling anyone at all about it until you show up on the day - imagine the fantastic reaction.

wobblyknicks · 02/09/2004 14:26

What about white lilies?? Would look stunning.

Northerner · 02/09/2004 14:27

I must admit lilibet at first I wasn't too keen on the idea of a red wedding dress, but after looking at that picture, WOW, it is beautiful.

Are you dark haired and dark skinned or are you fair?

MancMum · 02/09/2004 14:28

I had a red velvet floor length wedding dress and loads of people said how great it was to see something different - your dress is beautiful - you will be radiant in it...
