That really depends on your definition of religious. I suspect I'd want to say No to your definition of religious, but if you knew me you'd want to say I was.

I have a friend who is a born-again Christian who takes exception to being called "religious". She says she has a "relationship wih God". Well, I think she's as religious as they come, so who's right?

I am a practising christian but religious? No. It's a stupid word IMO.

do you follow a scripture or tenet written by someone else, be it god or prophet - that tells you what to wear, what you can and can't eat, who to sleep with, when to sleep with them, to beat your kids, stop them watching telly, etc?

"Religious" is a bit misleading here as it tends to be a word used by people about others. In practice, people rarely describe themselves as religious. (That doesn't make it inaccurate.)

Oh well if the idea was to make nasty statements about people whose beliefs you know nothing about, you should have just said so.

Also married to a local Methodist preacher - a man who is as 'religious', 'pious', as I am - ie. Not even slightly
