With recent events wanted to share this,

Just for today.

Just for today, i am going to smile when i see your face, and laugh when i feel like crying.
Just for this morning, i will let you choose what you want to wear, and smile and say how perfect it is.
Just for this morning, im going to step over the laundry, pick you up, and take you to the park to play.
Just for this morning, i will leave the dishes in the sink, and let you show me how to put that puzzle of yours together.
Just for this afternoon, i will unplug the phone, keep the computer off, and sit with you in the garden blowing bubbles.
Just for this afternoon, i will not yell once, not even when you scream and whine for the ice cream van, and i will buy you one if he comes by.
Just for this afternoon, i wont worry about what you will be when you grow up, or second guess every decision i have made were you are concerned.
Just for this afternoon, i will let you help me make cookies, and i wont stand over you trying to fix them.
Just for this afternoon, i will take us to Macdonalds, and buy us both a happy meal so you can have both toys.
Just for this evening, i will hold you in my arms and tell you a story about how you were born and how much i love you.
Just for this evening, i will let you splash in the bath and not get angry.
Just for this evening, i will let you stay up late while we sit outside and count the stars.
Just for this evening, i will snuggle beside you for hours and miss my favourite tv shows.
Just for this evening, when i brush your hair, i will simply be grateful that i have been given the greatest gift ever given...
I will think about the mothers and fathers who are searching for their missing children, the mothers and fathers who are visiting their
childrens graves instead of their bedrooms, and mothers and fathers who are in hospital rooms watching their children suffering, while
screaming inside that they can't handle any more.
And when i kiss you goodnight, i will hold you a little tighter, a little longer, it is then that i will thank god for you, and ask him for nothing,
except one more day......

Sorry, I posted without thinking, I'm sure lots of people think it's very sweet and everything but that was my immediate reaction. I don't want to fight about it though, I don't care enough, each to their own.

(Macdonalds isn't what I'd consider a treat either I'm afraid)

wheresthehamster · 13/05/2007 12:18

Well I thought it was lovely izzybiz.

Chandra · 13/05/2007 12:18

WWW tut, tut....

[Chandra shakes her head in disbelief wondering if the natural rhythms of life are changing... ]

Boco · 13/05/2007 12:19

To be honest i don't find it sweet, i find it terrifying. Clinging to my children, thanking god they aren't abducted or dead, is a kind of gnawing anxiety filled love that i'd like to avoid.

Chandra · 13/05/2007 12:20

Each to their own.

wheresthehamster · 13/05/2007 12:20

It's only for one day Boco

WideWebWitch · 13/05/2007 12:21

I have posted to say that Chandra.

Sparkler1 · 13/05/2007 12:22

I thought it was beautiful and I'm always telling myself not to worry about jobs around the house and that I should be spending more time playing with my kids while they are still little.

Chandra · 13/05/2007 12:26

WWW How are you? long time no see.

WideWebWitch · 13/05/2007 12:33

Chandra, I feel pre menstrual but hmm, not sure. I think I am, are you? IF so then I def am and should sit on my hands rather than post what I think!

ConnieDescending · 13/05/2007 12:35

"Just for this afternoon, i will take us to Macdonalds, and buy us both a happy meal so you can have both toys"

Am PMSL at that line!!!

Sounds like the kind of thing MIL would embroider for my 35 year old husband.

Carmenere · 13/05/2007 12:37

There is a germ of a good idea in there wrapped up in hideous sentimentality and it is probably devised and sponsored by McDonalds

fortyplus · 13/05/2007 12:40

I do all those things with my children anyway - it's chaos round here!

ps Not Mc D, obviously

If you do all those things for just a day your children are going to get very confused about what is unasseptable behaviour.

And your kitchen will be a hell of a mess.
