This one here

It is in a really good area with a fab primary school - Beacon school - and a good secondary too, although may still go down the private school route for that age.

I love my apartment and city living, but the quality of service and the cost of the service charge is starting to get us down a bit. And we spent the weekend at friends and Mollie kept asking "Can I have a garden mummy" - so??? Would also like a third bedroom. Well, you never know

It is also round corner from a great street in Sheffield - Ecclesall Road - loads of great places to eat, some good shops,e tc. And near the Botanical gardens and a park. Mollie's nursery is just down round.

Inside looks quite modern so we can keep with the clean cut modern style we quite like.

But no parking I don't think - depends on what road is like for that.

Trouble is, everywhere we would like to live is so expensive. This doesn't look great from the outside I know but the interior seems okay - would know better tonight. And there isn't much about.

Have no idea how much the apartment is worth really either! DH has asked estate agents for a rough value - the estate agents deal with the sales, resales and lettings here too. Oh, and the house belongs to one of the valuers there!

Mmm, only even starting thinking about this idea last night

Well been and spent a good 30 minutes or more there.

It was beautiful and I feel like I could move in tomorrow. They owners have lived there two years an dhave really made it a great place to live. They are only moving as they want to have dogs and the house isn't suitable for that.

House was repointed 2 years ago, and the cellar fully insulated at same time.

Walls are all nice smooth plaster and painted in neutral colours. All double glazed. Small breakfast conservatpry was well done and really made the kitchen fab. Kitchen was lovely - really my taste. Floors are all either tiled or proper floorboards - latest only actually fitted last week!

Rooms were actually all really good sized (my main concern) and out furniture - despite being modern - would easily fit and work well.

Bedrooms were great sizes and master room had an ensuite. Second room (Mollie's) was a great size too and she would have masses more room. Even third room could easily be a bedroom - nowhere like a box room ata ll.

Garden was a large sun deck and then a reasonable sized pebbled area. The latter would be great for Mollie to have a little house out there and her Little Tykes rocking horse. All low maintenance as properly fitted and lined - we move hate gardening and don't even like mowing a lawn - would have to have a garderner if had a proper garden.

Parking didn't seem a problem at all. They had two cars and always get to park very close. We were there between 6:15-7pm and there were certainly no problems.

Neighbours apparantly very nice and none nearby looked to be student houses

All in all we really liked it

So, our apartment is being properly valued on Thursday. Normally they sell very quickly, but ours is one of the larger ones so no idea. And we are going on holiday next Wednesday for a fortnight, so would need to leave much of the work is hands of estate agents and PILs.

Oh, excited now!!!

Drove by bigger one to Jan - very likely to be bought for a student house in DH's opinion.

And there is a small piece of land - owened by neighbour but unuused - that could be potential offe to by and make a drive down side of house. He has been approached before by current owner buand seemed interested. Would depend on price.

Well, it sounds perfect then! It certainly looks in v good nick in the photo.

(Though should mention that I have just noticed that as well as the valuer being Crapper, the negotiator is a Scally, LOL!)

LOL!

Just wanted to say how jealous I am at how cheap the houses are in Sheffield. You would have to pay almost double to get anything like that here in Surrey
The first house that you mentioned is lovely, my dream house!

Hulababy · 02/08/2004 20:51

Blossomhill - TBH if we move further out of Sheffield to the best areas there is not that much difference now. Just been looking for houses in Surrey this weekend with BIL - Surbiton kind of area. Was shocked at how similar in price the areas were now - the difference has certainly been reduced a lot over the past few years.

That's why we are looking where we are doing!!!

The first house is the one we went to see today - and it was fab Seriously considering putting in an offer.

DH is going to try and get the valuerer to come and see our apartment today or tomorrow if possible, so it can go on the market asap. He is also going to get the valurer to scan the brochure for the house and see what his gut reaction is to the price. I suspect the price will be spot on - very few places here that you get away with less; most properties go for more. Grr!!! If it seems okay we will most probably put an offer in!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow! Can't believe we only even considered the idea of maybe moving on Sunday afternoon, and now we have even seen a house we like.

How did I miss this thread Hula?? You'd still be a city gal though in Hunter's Bar? And did I perceive a whiff of another baby somewhere here????????
The first house looks lovely, How long has it been on the market? Anyone else been to view it? If you are really keen, make sure a FULL survey is done on an old house like this. When we fell in love with our 1830 cottage, we were very green and skint and just had a 'Housebuyers' survey done. Costly mistake that was!

Will keep my fingers crossed for you it is a lovely house.

Hulababy · 03/08/2004 14:28

Hi Gingerbear. House has just gone on the market last Friday. Not sure if they have had other viewings - we got the impression not. Most people round there seem to like a "project" whereas this house is finished. We have registered our interest now though and will see what happens this week. I will be doing lots of Ecclesall Road lunches soon maybe!!!
