Hello all. Just doing some research for an article I'm writing about life after baby.......and wondered if you had come across anything that had been a shock/surprise when you had your baby. Did you have lots of information about how to look after a baby, or was it a complete shock to the system to look after a small baby?????

Hope you don't mind answering this question.

Bye for now xxx :-)

I'm a bit like chandra and xoz. I read everything going so I would have multiple solutions to every problem I might face and ended up thinking that it is pretty easy really.
I was also surprised by my strong stomach during nappy changes etc as I have the weakest stomach imaginable.
Another surprise was how quickly I bounced back after my c-section after all the horror stories I had heard.

I was completely unprepared for how much I would resent dh being tucked up in bed all warm and snuggly whilst I was awake in the wee hours breast feeding. In the 1st few weeks I just used to sit there thinking how cruel it was that the woman has to go through childbirth and then be the main carer on top of all that. Oh and all that bleeding!

I assumed that if I expessed milk with a pump it would simply gush out, rather than sitting pumping for 20 minutes for a measly 2 oz. I read everything I could about looking after baby but during the first for days and nights reality struck me, I can remember thinking 6, 7, 8 nappies a day, (and at the speed I was changing them), I felt I would spend my whole life changing nappies. The thought of spending most of the night awake didnt appeal much and on the first night I thought, shit what have I done. Now I have 2 children and would love a third so I could do it all again because it has been the best time of my life.

2Princesses ...
I am still like that ... 'That was someone's baby' thing ....
Wellsie ... I used to feel like that too, with DS when he was a baby ... that he would be better off with another mummy
