Crystaltips · 23/07/2004 22:07

Anyone have experience - or know anything about life coaching. I am sick to death with being out of control in many areas of my life and would be interested to see whether or not this can help.
Thanks

Beccarollover - which life coaching course are you thinking of doing? Some of them are great but some cost thousands and are frankly a bit duff and not worth it. I have been a life coach for the last 4 years and it's a fab job - really good fun and very fulfilling.

tiamaria · 16/09/2004 11:28

Beccarollover - Hi! This is a coffee morning type life coaching thread (fun and very easy going) and you're very welcome to join us!

MancMum - Hi! How are you? Set out any goals and dates and we'll do what we can to help and support you. I've got huge goals in front of me, so you're in good company!

monkeymagic - Hi! You're very welcome on this thread, in whatever role you choose - leader, supporter, whatever!

Dizzylizzy · 16/09/2004 11:39

Morning all,

Can I join in please? Don't really know what it is though, duh!.

tiamaria · 16/09/2004 11:43

Dizzylizzy - Yep, you can join in! Great to have you here! Just write down anything that you want to achieve and a deadline that you'd like to have it done by. If you want advice on how to achieve it, just ask!

boudicca · 16/09/2004 11:48

I'm computerless at the moment, so won't be able to join in - I'll be thinking of you all though

Dizzylizzy · 16/09/2004 11:48

To be honest, i want to desperately lose weight, which i am finding very very hard, i NEED to lose about 8 stone, I also want to kick my depression in the head once and for all and also enjoy going out again, I hate going out of the house.

tiamaria · 16/09/2004 12:03

boudicca - Good to hear from you again! It'll be great to have you back!

Dizzylizzy - Okay. First thing I do is break the goals down into manageable portions. Half a stone is quite a big goal, so I'd go for that to begin with. Depression is a tough one but can be done with time, support, medication if needed, etc. Again, we need to identify something specific that'll help. As for rarely leaving the house - are you sure you're not me! The trouble is, I feel safe here. No-one to see me and think "What a dipstick" or anything. The trouble is, to build up confidence, you need to get out when you can. Even if it's just a walk around the block on your own, even if you don't speak to anyone on the way. Reclaim your village/town/whatever as yours. Sorry, I'm giving myself a pep talk there! How does that sound?

Dizzylizzy · 16/09/2004 12:10

Sounds good to me, I have a little one who would greatly appreciate going out of the house more, but then again I have ALWAYS been a homebird and can't really ever see myself changing that, I go away and after the first night I am wanting to get back home to my own surroundings. I'm in a vicious circle with the losing weight, my comfort when I'm feeling low is food or wine and hence I am in a catch 22 situation.

Yippee, someone to help organise me..........so good you're back, tiamaria........we obviously can't do it without you!

I am still with same goals - little/no progress so far but loads of good intentions now that ds is back at school and i have more time.........still need to clear that chest of drawers!!

(by the way, have changed mumsnet name - used to be Kay 1)

tiamaria · 16/09/2004 14:57

nixie - Hello, again! Can you do a short list of goals and deadlines, please? We need to get motivated once more! Mine are:-

  1. Sell dd's outgrown clothes. By the end of Sept.
  2. Sort out dd and ds' winter clothes. By the end of next week.

That'll do for now. Oh, and clear the ironing pile. By the end of the week.

Dizzylizzy · 16/09/2004 16:03

One of the things bugging me at home is that I have an enormous pile of ironing, but, tackling that isn't possible at the minute because every spare moment is taken up by major works in the house, but, I WILL have it done by the end of October, I also want the kitchen re-painted by the end of October.

Northerner · 16/09/2004 16:25

Oooh a life coach just what I need. My personal and work life are majorly unorganised at the moment. And I feel knackered all of the time.

monkeymagic · 16/09/2004 17:40

Tiamaria - from one coach to another I think you're doing a fab job.

tiamaria · 16/09/2004 18:40

monkeymagic - Thanks! I have enthusiasm for the role of leader, but absolutely no knowledge or experience, though! It's a bit scary!

Northerner - Hello! Good to have you aboard! Could you do a short list of goals and deadlines? Also, if you need help or advice on any aspect, you could ask here. One of us might be able to help.

Dizzylizzy - That sounds good. We've recently finished building an extension on the house and I'm so glad to be done with the mess. Have you chosen the paint for the kitchen yet?

ladywallopofcod · 16/09/2004 18:45

northener I cant believe it
I will ife coach you in a fishy fashion
I must admit I dont see why you need one as all youall seem to need to do is log off mn and get on w ith it
why do you need a life coach to sort out clothes?
1.get a friend over
2. a bottle of wine
3. Park friend on bed adn show her your clothes until she cannot stop laughing at your awful fashion choices.
!!

Hello, everyone! Dd has discovered my nickname so I'm sorry, but I'm changing it from tiamaria to tiptop.

Friday is the day that we'd decided on way back in July to report back on how we're doing (time, child/work commitments, etc allowing).

I'm not doing too badly, considering. I'm about to tackle the summer/winter clothes goal now, with the kids' help.

How about everyone else?

tiptop · 17/09/2004 21:05

Bump!

nixie · 18/09/2004 11:52

Hi tiptop,

my goals were originally -

  1. to clear out clothes in chest of drawers - 1 a week - so far have still only done one!
  2. to go swimming once a week - managed to go about every third week!
  3. to only say 'yes' to things i really want to do..........finding this hard to do but have been thinking more about what i want and have made some more space for me - still working on it though.

So, have decided to set new achievable goals for next 3 weeks..........

  1. to definately clear out that chest of drawers.
  2. to continue the just saying yes only if i really want to do it thing......
  3. to have 5 mins a day for total relaxation...now it can't be too hard to find just 5 mins can it?!!!

What about everyone else - how are you all doing?

tiptop · 21/09/2004 14:43

nixie - Hi! Well done for keeping at it. I've been doing some sorting out, too. There's lots left to be done, though.

How's everyone else:- MancMum, mummytosteven, hunmummy, fionagib, Juliehafrancis, emwi, yingers74, boudicca, morningmayhem, unicorn, Piffleoffagus, Dizzylizzy, Northerner, Beccarollover?

tiptop · 22/09/2004 10:11

I washed and dried our summer duvets yesterday and I feel ridiculously pleased with myself! Now I can air them and put them away. And it's pouring with rain today so, for once, I timed it well!

MancMum · 22/09/2004 10:26

will be joining you soon - need to work out what out huge list I need to achieve first...

Glad to see you back and taking the lead in this - am getting inspired to start again!!

tiptop · 22/09/2004 10:40

MancMum - It'll be great to have you back here again!

Anyone else around?

tiptop · 23/09/2004 09:33

Just a quick reminder that Friday is the update day, so if anyone's around tomorrow, please post an update on how you're doing. Thanks!
