BIL shocked & scared me today by holding DS2 over the rails of the river Thames.

Took the boys to London today to meet my parents, sister & BIL who have been staying there over the w/e.
We decided to take the boys on the river boat & while waiting for the boat, BIL thought it would be a great joke to pick up my little boy & hold him over the rails!
He only did it for a split second & insists he had a tight hold of him, but it frightened the hell out of me & made me very angry.
What if he had lost his grip, or DS had wriggled away? It doesn't bear thinking about & makes me feel sick.
Poor DS seemed a little shaky after & I was just totally shocked & still feel sick thinking about it now.
My sister & parents were also very shocked with him. I just can't believe he did it, I really can't. Bloody idiot!

Bloooody hell!! Makes me panic just reading your thread. I would take a long time in forgiving this one and not let him near my dc again. What a t**t.

Pinkchampagne · 08/04/2007 20:44

I am totally livid & still shocked.

Awful.
How silly, bil obviously should have engaged his brain!
Makes me feel sick just thinking about it.
Glad he's ok

highonlife · 08/04/2007 20:45

Has he got children?

Pinkchampagne · 08/04/2007 20:46

No wonder he was so thoughtless. Bet the air between Bil and S is tense tonight!

PanicPants · 08/04/2007 20:48

I would be incensed

WideWebWitch · 08/04/2007 20:49

I would be bloody furious too.

Gobbledigook · 08/04/2007 20:50

OMG, I'd be livid too.

ELF1981 · 08/04/2007 20:51

The only reason I asked about the age is because my DD is 18 months and such a bloody wriggler, I'm not sure what age they grow out of doing that rigid body thing when they tend to slip out of your grip, but I'd be livid too.

on your behalf. I panic enough when people throw dd into the air, let alone hang her over a boat!

Pinkchampagne · 08/04/2007 20:52

Yes he did actually hold him over the rails for a split second & I screamed!
He chuckled & said he had a tight hold of him, but you don't take chances like that.
If he had lost his grip my little boy would have stood no chance.

My DS2 is a very active little boy & can be a wriggler when you hold him. He was very still while BIL did this, but the poor little chap was probably shocked.
I can't begin to express how shocked & frightened I felt for that split second, and I can't stop thinking about it now.

OMG, I would have killed him! What an utterly stupid and dangerous thing to do! I hope you and your ds are okay!

Pinkchampagne · 08/04/2007 21:11

Totally unbelivable & shocking! He has done some stupid things in the past, but this was just the most shocking & horrendous thing he has ever done.
Nobody laughed at his shocking idea of a joke, we were all very very shocked.

Oh dear

the ruddy arsehole

he was probably trying to be the super funny wacky uncle who everyone describes as "soooo good with the children"

oh dear

Pinkchampagne · 08/04/2007 21:16

I know he wouldn't have meant to cause any harm & that it was his (very bad) idea of a joke, but it was so dangerous & it frightened me & DS.
