Me and my Mooncup (Warning - TMI in this thread!)

I've had it for several months now, getting on better and better with it. But the more comfortable I get with it, the more problems I'm having: (here comes the TMI bit) fanny farts and leaks. What am I doing wrong? Any advice?

I wouldn't have dreamed of using a Mooncup before I had children. Amazing how pregnancy, childbirth and 'aftereffects' can totally demolish a person's squeamishness.

(TMI alert) Would it work for me, with damaged pelvic floor muscles? I have difficulty holding tampons in now, especially once they are "full" and they will pop out of I strain (eg when having a crap).

I am now seeing a physio and doing exercsie to work on my pelvic floor, so they are imporving gradually - but the tampons still feel "loose".

Can you use one of these even if you have heavy periods?

JanZ, you might still be able to use a mooncup, as you have to fold it up to insert it, then it springs open against the wall of the vagina, to hold it in,IYSWIM.They come in 2 sizes for those who have given birth vaginally, aand those who haven't, so I guess you could try it and see. You can always send it back for a refund if you don't like it!

Noddy5, yes you can use a mooncup with heavy periods, you just have to empty it more often. My first 24 hours are pretty heavy, and it needs emptying every 3 or 4 hours, but, I can easily last overnight (tend to use a pad as well on night 1 for extra security). Days 2 and 3 I can last 6 hours between changes.Realistically, though, I just empty when I need a pee.
