Both my children have slightly unusual names, but still "normal" names. Since DD has started school we get really confused by the amount of children in her year at reception with the same name so I'm quite glad my dc's are different.

We have

3 x Ben
4 x Megan
5 x Emily
3 x Charlotte
6 x James
2 x Morgan (boys and 1 x Morgan girl)
2 x Mason
2 x Ethan
4 x Sam
3 x joshua
2 x Isaac

I guess being one of two people with the same first name wouldn't be too bad, but one of 6 James!!

What are the popular names in your childrens classes?

Ds1 is one of three boys in his year with the same name, but ds2 is the only one of his name in reception.

bEllieK · 29/03/2007 13:36

in our area Luke and George are really common names for pre-schoolers

2 friends of mine (don't know each other) gave birth within a week of each other and both boys are named Luke!

and at toddlers we had 2 George's, then my sister and another friend both used George as well!

DrMarthaMcMoo · 29/03/2007 13:36

We seem to have a lot of Mias and Millies.

MintChocChippyMinton · 29/03/2007 13:36

Can only think of a couple of repeats out of 40 in DS1's reception year.

Out of the 90 in dss' yeargroup there are 5 boys called Thomas, 3 girls called Jessica, and two each of Sam, Luke, Rachel and Lucy.
Ds is the only one with his name in his yeargroup.

Out of the 80 in dds' yeargroup there are 4 girls called Hannah and two each of Amelia, Sohphie, Ellie, and Becky.
Dd is the only one with her name in her yeargroup.

bobsmum · 29/03/2007 16:16

There will be 6 children in ds's P1 class in August so no duplicates there

I was one of four girls in my year with my name. Hated it.

spudmasher · 29/03/2007 16:18

Mohammed

Shane

Jordan
Abdirahman

clayre · 29/03/2007 16:19

the only name in dd's nursery class is dd's name Aimee both have the same spelling

Boco · 29/03/2007 16:20

All the boys are called Charlie or Jack

bozza · 29/03/2007 16:22

DS is in a Y1 class of 30 (one class per year at his school). The duplicates are:

Lauren
James
George

At DD's nursery Megan seems v. popular. I know of 3.

Mercy · 29/03/2007 16:23

Just double-checked with dd.

Every single child in her class has a different name. Maybe because it's a very diverse school & community?

Don't know about the other 2 classes though.

MrsBoo · 29/03/2007 16:26

Ben
James
Jack
Rachel
Kate/Katie

WinnieThePooh · 29/03/2007 16:28
