Both my children have slightly unusual names, but still "normal" names. Since DD has started school we get really confused by the amount of children in her year at reception with the same name so I'm quite glad my dc's are different.

We have

3 x Ben
4 x Megan
5 x Emily
3 x Charlotte
6 x James
2 x Morgan (boys and 1 x Morgan girl)
2 x Mason
2 x Ethan
4 x Sam
3 x joshua
2 x Isaac

I guess being one of two people with the same first name wouldn't be too bad, but one of 6 James!!

What are the popular names in your childrens classes?

Erm...all those with loads of Bens, are they Benjamin or Benedict??

SoMuchToBits · 29/03/2007 16:36

In ds's year (58 children) there are:-

Jack x 2
Joshua x 2
Morgan x 2
Bethany x 2
Georgia x 2
Alice x 2
Daniel x 2

In the whole school, the most popular names are Jack and Chloe, and also quite a few Joshuas, Samuels, Megans, Harrys.

In the year below ds, there are 4 Nathans and 5 Samuels.

NuttyMuffins · 29/03/2007 16:37

Dd1 is Lauren and there is one other Lauren in her class, Dd2 is Chloe and there is one other Chloe in her class too.

The most common names at their school are, Chloe, Olivia, Leah, Emily, Jack, Callum and Connor I think.

Ds is Harry and there are no other in his nursery class as far as I know.

SoMuchToBits · 29/03/2007 16:37

The Bens vary in our school. The one in ds's class is just Ben, but know of several Benjamins as well.

lou33 · 29/03/2007 16:37

Popular names at the dcs' school include Max, Oliver, Joshua, Jack, Harry and Thomas for boys, and for girls: Isobel/elle etc, Chloe, Eleanor and Sophie

SJLTM · 29/03/2007 16:46

Isn't it funny how opinions change, when I had my Jack 20yrs ago (named after my dad) quite a few people thought it was a strange name for a baby, now you can't go anywhere without a least one boy being called Jack!

hana · 29/03/2007 16:47

and 2 ruby's

bozza · 29/03/2007 16:48

califrau we have a very white, very english Xavier in DS's class.

DanielAndOmi · 29/03/2007 16:53

DS has 3 Georgias in his yr1/yr2 class.

Miaou · 29/03/2007 16:55

Only 26 children in the school and there is only one duplicate - dd1 - only the other girl spells her name differently.

Ds's name is very popular in our village - but only among older people. If this db is a boy it might well have the same name as a two-year-old in the village as it's the only one we like so far!!

AspartameGoddessOfCatAstrophe · 29/03/2007 17:10

a couple of Katies and Lillys I think. DD is the only one, and DS has a duplicate as well, only spelt differently. He is Elijah, and the other boy is Elizjah, which I've never ever seen before!

exbury · 29/03/2007 17:13

Califrau that is a seriously Californian collection!

DS's class:

Alexander
Oliver * 2
Toby
Jack
Fraser
Cameron
Poppy
Isobel
Clarissa
Joseph
Charlie
Christopher
Oscar

..diagnose what sort of school

exbury · 29/03/2007 17:16

..and DS's nursery class had 3 James. I made a mental note at the time that if LO2 was a boy it was not* going to be James. Chose what I thought was quite an unusual name for DD and it turns out she will be the third one in a small nursery - no way of abbreviating it, either!

Ditzymumofone · 29/03/2007 17:17

In a class of 16
1 Ben, 1 Benjamin
2 Olivers
Harry
Peter
Jamie
Ethan
Sujan
Zev
Poppy
Lara
and a clutch of Koreans whose names I wouldn't attempt to spell.
That said, there are 50 kids in the school - 3 Harry's. Out of school we know7 Williams all the same age!
