Dp and I are getting married in February and a friend of his who has a fantastic voice and plays guitar wonderfully has offered to sing at our wedding while we sign the register.

So I need suggestions! Ones that have been mentioned so far are, Have I told you lately and Tupelo Honey from Van Morrison, Fields of Gold, Sting, my dd suggested Everything I do, but I think its a bit cheesey, Paul Simon, Something so right, but it has the line in it 'can't get used to something so right' which isn't really what I want! Heaven by Bryan Adams and on the lighter side, Will you still love me tomorrow and Heaven knows I'm miserable now!!

What do you all think? We probably need about three songs.

Hi Tutb

If I should die this very moment
I wouldn't fear
for I've never known completeness
like being here
wrapped in the warmth of you
loving every breath of you
still my heart this moment
oh it might burst

could we stay right here
till the end of time until the earth stops turning
wanna love you until the seas run dry
I've found the one I've waited for

all this time I've loved you
and never known your face
all this time I've missed you
and searched this human race
here is true peace
here my heart knows calm
safe in your soul
bathed in your sighs
wanna stay right here
till the end of time
till the earth stops turning
gonna love you until the seas run dry
I've found the one I've waited for

the one I've waited for

all I've known
all I've done
all I've felt was leading to this
all I've known
all I've done
all I've felt was leading to this

wanna stay right here
till the end of time till the earth stops turning
gonna love you till the seas run dry
I've found the one I've waited for

the one I've waited for
the one I've waited for

wanna stay right here
till the end of time 'till the earth stops turning
gonna love you till the seas run dry
I've found the one I've waited for

the one I've waited for
the one I've waited for

Like that ff, apparently we have it somewhere, and he is going to dig it out

That Smashing Pumpkins song - "today is the greatest" ?! I think is the title? is a nice one if you like your indie music. I tend to be indie/alternative queen when it comes to love songs so I am not sure if Smashing Ps would be your taste - we resorted to some classical music on our day chosen by ex-dh

However, "let there be love" by Harry Connick Junior is always a nice. Also "24 hours" by err umm?! - you know the one "what a difference a day makes, 24 little hours, what the sun and moon make etc etc. I think most romantic jazz songs go a long way!

I have to admit that I love love songs now I that I have met someone that I can oggle at as they go through my head! even if I don't always remember the artist.

That was as handy as a chocolate fireguard wasnt it?

Babyannabel · 11/07/2004 21:16

What about what NOT to have? I suggest "Still haven't found what I'm looking for" by U2

fairyfly · 11/07/2004 21:16

oooh Harry connick and it had to be you

Babyannabel · 11/07/2004 21:17

On a more helpful note - "Dream a Little Dream of Me" is nice , can't remember who it's by - Louis Armstrong perhaps?

libb · 11/07/2004 21:17

and there is "Yellow" by Coldplay - one I am also really fond of. xxx

fairyfly · 11/07/2004 21:17

Thank you for putting the words up. It was out first dance at our wedding ( that I didn't know who sang it) The words are just lovely. Happy memories

whizzz · 11/07/2004 22:32

I love Dream a little dream - wish I'd thought of it at our wedding. Beautiful South did a nice version as did Doris Day !

lilibet · 12/07/2004 01:54

Louis Armstrong did it originally and it is fantastic, Mamas and Papas covered it (anorak alert [grin})

I love 'It had to be you' but tutb's cousin walked into it and it would be a bit difficult for one man and a guitar!

At the moment am considering walking in to 'At last my love has come along' and out to 'all the time in the world' but those are both open to discussion.

Dream a little Dream was also my favourite teen film with Corey Haim

MotherBear · 12/07/2004 02:14

How about 'Time in a bottle'- can only remember some of the words tho so dont know what rest of song goes like, sorry !!

If I could save time in a bottle
The first thing that I'd like to do
Is to save every day
Till Eternity passes away
Just to spend them with you
If I could make days last forever
If words could make wishes come true
I'd save every day like a treasure and then,
Again, I would spend them with you

laughing about Today by Smashing Pumpkins - used to play a pretty ropey cover of that in a band I was in years ago - ah the memories!

going to try and find Gorecki later ff (didnt think anyone else had ever heard of that!).

CountessDracula · 12/07/2004 15:40

don't have anything by Harry Connick jr, he is a love rat. Dumped one of my mates and offered to pay for her therapy
