Any good ideas as to where i can purchase something stunning but comfortable for a friends wedding - I'm a size 18 (and trying to slim!) but don't know where to start looking for posh frocks!!! All advice welcome (except the obvious - "Loose weight!"

Yes, cleavage (suitably underpinned) always distracts attention from most other things, I've found

I just bought some lovely cream wide legged trousers in Evans for a wedding, actually from the Brides section - only £40. Also for another wedding a red and white floral skirt with linen to wear with a red or a white top and a red pashmina and fab red shoes from Debs sales.

My aim is for a Monsoon frock though,(13lbs down on WW!!) that would be my choice if I were you, they are gorgeous (if pricey!)

I went to Monsoon last Saturday looking for a wedding frock, and I was very disappointed. There seemed to be very little choice, and nothing at all that I even wanted to try on. (It was just a little store though maybe that's the reason ...?)

How radical do you feel? When I was pregnant, I had a salwar kameez (indian trousers and tunic) outfit I used as a bridesmaid and a bride, but it would have done for a guest outfit too. Red silk, gold embroidery, smashing, cost less than the shoes, fits lots of sizes. (Alas, does not work for nursing, so had to wear something else to the most recent wedding I went to.)

I'm with Lilibet on this... I tried on a dress and found myself apologising 18 months after DD for being a size 16. The "stick" replied that "this" was her only size, 14 but "it will definitely fit you as it is VERY large!".

It didn't. I cried all the way home.
