Leading on from the "Could YOU Survive a Whole Year Without Shopping????" thread.

here and the news item thank you foxtrot for op

How many shoes do you buy for yourself a year? Most think shoe buying would impossible to go without?

a) 1 - 2 pairs
b) 3 - 5 pairs
c) 5 - 10 pairs
d) 10 + (please justify - like if you are a centipeed?)

Does not include, wellies, slippers or rubber flip flops! Cause they are not realy shoes!

Shoes make an outfit though. You have to have the right shoes to go with the right things. It's like when you see little girls all dressed up in a party dress and then they either have trainers on the end of their feet or big clumpy school shoes .

Therefore to answer the question I probably buy a new pair of shoes every couple of months as the seasons change. I think I currently have somewhere in the region of about 40 pairs. I have just passed some on to the charity shop.

NotanOtter · 04/03/2007 20:17

a

paulaplumpbottom · 04/03/2007 20:18

10+ easy. Its true I don't need them but thats not the point. I like shoes. I do get a lot of wear out of them.

JackieNo · 04/03/2007 20:19

I'd like to think it was a, but it's probably more like the upper end of b. Generally only wear the same 2 or 3 pairs day to day.

MrsSpoon · 04/03/2007 20:19

I'm probably only a b)

brimfull · 04/03/2007 20:20

B) but only due to financial restraint.

nally · 04/03/2007 20:21

I buy, at the most, 2 pairs per year for myself.

Unfortunately for dd1, she is one of those girls with the clumpy trainers on with her party dress. Would love to buy her and other dc more shoes, but they are too expensive.

mousiemousie · 04/03/2007 20:23

a) or b) if you include flip flops which I live in in summer...

I would buy more but I have wide feet and joint problems since pregnancy so it's hard to find nice shoes that fit and are comfy

mousiemousie · 04/03/2007 20:24

I buy (c) for dd so she is not one of those girls with the wrong shoes...she has more pairs than me!

misdee · 04/03/2007 20:27

b

pair of summer shoes for everyday walkign etc, pair of winter boots and a pair of trainers.

i dont have a need for dressy shoes really.

wotzsaname · 04/03/2007 20:28

I don't know where I would keep more than a few pairs for all the family.

I am a) myself.

I hate shopping and don't have lots of outfits ! Because I haet shopping.
I keep lots of my shoes, Im not a fashion style guru, so good job none of you can see me!

wotzsaname · 04/03/2007 20:29

Do not count, wellies, slippers or rubber flip flops! Cause they are not realy shoes!

tassis · 04/03/2007 20:29

probably b...possibly a

i do need more shoes though, tend to wear same thing all the time

pollyanna · 04/03/2007 20:31

c or maybe d. I have bought 2 pairs so far this year (one was a pair of crocs though )

nikkie · 04/03/2007 20:37

I have loads of shoes but some I have had for years (still have my school shoes )Have also sold some on ebay.
I usually buy 5 ish a year and tend to wreck things like flip flops and trainers

Nbg · 04/03/2007 20:40

10+ because

A) I am a centipede.
B) I am a centipede with an addiction.

BettySpaghetti · 04/03/2007 20:46

b.

I find it really difficult finding footwear that I like TBH. Boots, trainers and Birkie-type sandals are reasonably OK to find but I can never find shoes or smarter footwear.

crunchie · 04/03/2007 21:07

d) since I guess you were getting at me there

Let me explain last years shoes buying (well the last 3 months of the year). I got a new job which meant I HAVE to wear suits to work, I HATE suits with a passion, they are not me. So the ONLY thing I can do is buy shoes

I now have 3 suits and 8 pairs of stillettos to wear with said suits.

  1. Black patent round toed 4"
  2. Red sequin Dorothey shoes 3"
  3. Brown sequib dorothey shoes 3"
  4. green suede with peep toes and flower 4"
  5. red suede peed toed/flower 4"
  6. black round toed maryjane with white piping 3"
  7. Black sequined round toed 8)Red tartan round toed with big bows

I also have in my wardorbe the following :- (I know I will forget some pairs here)
3 x cowboy boots in Black, gold and baby pink
Gold strappy sandles
2 pairs black strappy sandles
2 x knee high black boots, one flatish, one high heels
silver sequined ballet pumps
2 x moroccanstyle slipper/pumps in pink and blue sequins
red patent ballet pumps
Black sude wedge peeptoes
black with pink floppy slowers/beads
3 pairs trainers
caterpiller walking boots
white fluffy moon boots
pink glitter wellies
endless flip flops of various types
black crocs

Oh I give up, probably at least 20 other pairs

I love shoes

Bozza · 04/03/2007 21:15

I am a d too crunchie. And I am not blushing about it either.

Working backwards in the last year I have bought (or asked people to buy me for presents):
white and gold fabric ballet pumps
grey low heeled sideless shoes (bad description)
black wedge heel knee high boots
silver fabric high heel peep toes
teal medium heel
red ballet pump
green shiny wedge heeled sandals
Dunlop trainers
black heeled peep toes
aqua leather flipflops (assume these count because they are not rubber and I wore them tons)
gold ballet pumps

wotzsaname · 04/03/2007 21:17

wow crunchie. No I wasn't having a go at anyone, don't know you all well ebough yet!

centipede

However maybe crunchiecentipede could be an alternative name some day? Has a nice flow to it.

You must have a big wardrobe! and thanks for the descriptions, but I am shoe ignorant and dont't know what you are saying. sorry!

I have ONE pair of black court shoes! Thats it! However, I do have 8 pairs of boots in varying lengths, heights and colours, 1 pair timberland style boots and a pair of flip flops.

southeastastra · 04/03/2007 21:24

the thread title is brilliant!

skirmish · 04/03/2007 21:26

d) at least...though i do hide them from my dh and if (not often) he notices, i respond with:

  1. these old things? had em for ages

or

  1. they are cheapo's from new look/primark etc (when they are not)

love shoes
