Happy New Year Phalanx and, indeed, all of Mumsnet!!

We've had the wedding. We've had Christmas. Or, as I refer to it: THE MOST AMAZING CHRISTMAS EVER.

Now it's onward one day at a time.

There will be planning of the wake so it's going to be THE MOST AMAZING PARTY THREAD EVER.

Knotty was originally KnottyLocks and Pistey was RatherBeOnThePiste way back when. Dunno if they still maintain their separate usernames or have new ones or just always post as KnottyandPistey because WoollyHugs must take up SO much time. I also don't know if they knew each other pre-MN - I have a feeling they "met" on here, which would just add to the loveliness of the whole story! I met them both at my first meet up too BBB 😊

Think that might have been the same meet up. I think you bought a bottle hearts and I helped you drink it. Is Frank on here?

Hearts if you wouldn't mind, and when you've got a spare moment, would you please PM me your smoked oyster dip recipe? It sounds totally fab and I'd love to try it.

Hearts I've definitely heard of those usernames before. My memory is bloody shot these days (I'm 28)

BathsLad's hair's just started falling out, he's shaved it, he asked my opinion on a wig, he's going for extremely long, straight, dark red. I did try to sell him the idea of purple...

Zombie I'm glad the day has been good to you; long may they continue.

I've just been reading about Candy's Hugs and I might too have something in my eye. It comes through so clearly on that thread (and these ones) the love and respect people feel towards you.
As this is an on going project it has inspired me to look up some crochet tutorials (any recommendations welcome) and get some hooks and yarn and give it a go!

I'm OK Roses thanks. He comes back into my life after 9 years, gets cancer and comes out as transgender all within a few months. At least the cancer's given him a sense of self preservation, therefore I don't want to throttle him quite as much as I did before.

Z's last post nearly set me off. I don't really know what to say.

Zombie, you are so thoughtful, taking the time to thank people who have been part of your journey but now have to stand back and let you finish it. As a nurse, I'd be so honoured and humbled to have that opportunity. I hope tonight brings refreshing sleep.

Hearts' Smoked Oyster Dip

a.k.a. The easiest recipe ever

1 tin smoked oysters, oil and all
1 thingy of Philadelphia
Judicious squeeze of lemon

All in bowl. Mash with fork (need strong arm) or whizz with hand blender (lazy option). Serve at room temp for best flavour. Your choice of crackers / biscuits.

I usually double or even triple the recipe because it's so damn tasty

I use a LOT of lemon but that is personal taste!

Stoically Unborn. He takes everything stoically. I think he's more pissed off that he'll have to grow it another 4 years, than anything.He says the wig is the length he was going for naturally, before chemotherapy botched it. I'm glad he's got braver over the years.

My husband has been diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer and since the diagnosis I have read and read everything I can find.
Your posts have taught me more than anything else I've seen about living with courage and making the best of every day. You are one hell of a woman.

From what I've seen of your posts it must be a lot for him to deal with, a lot for you as well

Zombie, I am so sorry you've had to face this awful disease but I am awed at both the grace and determination I've seen in your posts and the compassion shown here by members of the Phalanx. I wish I could do more, but my friends say I give great (non-Wooly) hugs, so I'll just send you a great big Internet hug from Pennsylvania USA.

I happen to know that Z sets great store by good hugs Historia so your post is spot on .
