Happy New Year Phalanx and, indeed, all of Mumsnet!!

We've had the wedding. We've had Christmas. Or, as I refer to it: THE MOST AMAZING CHRISTMAS EVER.

Now it's onward one day at a time.

Sorry book - got carried away by the thought of trifle. Have heaps of tea towels. In fact, I have so many tea towels, I could start my own tea towel emporium. why do people keep giving me tea towels?

I have some beetroot and a bottle of vodka with just enough missing to squidge in a couple of beetroots. What herbs shall I put in? Bit of black pepper? Horseradish?

Not sullied the whole bottle, just in case.

But I have a glass with vodka, squished beetroot and quite a lot of horseradish.

Some dill might be nice.

I wouldn't exactly describe it as a drink ( needs a spoon) but it's delicious

It needs a mixer. Ginger beer?

It might make a good alcoholic sorbet between starter and main. Hmm. Twixt halloumi with garlic, lime, capers and coriander followed by Beef Welly. Good hearty flavours.

Could we have a bit of S club 7?

Something for us all to dance along to in an old gimmer fashion!

I hereby submit my application to join the Phalanx. Since I joined MN many years ago I've loved your posting style and have lurked on many a thread. May I say I am So Fucking Sorry that the bastard cancer has you but your posting on here is brilliant and so helpful. I do not have Bastard Cancer but another illness leaves me dependent on morphine for the rest of my life and your posting about how constipating it is and your honesty about it have made me want to come and join all the fun (well, it takes all sorts eh?). I am so fed up with tummy ache and fibrogel and trying not to get dependent on medicine to stop the issues because that will just be another bloody tablet to take forever... anyway, I digress, it's just lovely to hear an honest voice about the downsides and the stupid pain it causes. I am also adopted and finding my feet in a relationship with my birth mother. The joy in your voice talking about Zombie Lad (and now Lass) has really helped me understand her and her feelings. So thank you.

Now may I have a share in any alcohol going round and some cheese (not fussed by cake, sorry).
