Happy New Year Phalanx and, indeed, all of Mumsnet!!

We've had the wedding. We've had Christmas. Or, as I refer to it: THE MOST AMAZING CHRISTMAS EVER.

Now it's onward one day at a time.

There will be planning of the wake so it's going to be THE MOST AMAZING PARTY THREAD EVER.

I used to be a barmaid in my youth so I can resurrect my skills if needed, to keep the cocktails topped up 🍹🍷🍻

white we may need lots of tea towels to mop up spillage. Esp from my cocktail-making efforts.

Bath beetroot cider? Tastes like beetroot and makes your pee bright red?

And I would be happy to bring brownies. I make the most amazing brownies if anyone wants them to be special magic brownies then supply the goods and I'll give it a bash

I've got a cocktail shaker Fid although I think you'll need dozens more than one!

Also have large mallet so can I be in charge of ice crushing please?

You could turn that ice cube smashing into a game like Whackamole

I've got an ice crushing machine so that will help us, we'll freeze the ice in sheets to make it easier to crush.

Beetroot cider, I think I'll give that a miss!

I have tried to master links for years but keep failing miserably but can I put in a request for Dancing Queen? I got a Fondue set for Christmas!!!! Please can I bring it to the party? I also have an ace variety of cheese - Gorgonzola, Camembert, Cambanzola, Brie, Stilton etc and an assortment of pickles and chutneys. I have a couple of bottles of sherry and a bottle of Port that have remaining remarkably unopened which I am happy to put on the party table. Love to Zombie and the Phalanx. Hope 2017 is treating you well 🥂

I have a catering quantity of black bags and I'll collect all the paper plates. Once they are finished with, of course. We got free chips last week as the waiter tried to take our chip basket with one chip in that dh was going to eat and asked for back waiter felt so bad we got another portion free. They were good chips. I like chips...

I quite fancy a proper apron for my cocktail bar duties. Short & black. FidBoy1 has one for his (too few) occasional bar jobs. But he's buggered off to Berlin. Must admit will be v happy to have him safely home. Nasty mood here atm.

Beetroot coder sounds weirdly delicious. I've just made a large amount of ratatouille.

At this rate we'll need a new thread by Friday! Think I'll swerve the beetroot cider any cider except in a pork casserole.

I can lend you a short black apron if it would help Fiderer - it came FOC from the Sunday Times Wine Club- it does have the odd stain here and there though.....
I often think having grown up children is more stressful than little ones tbh - I still fret at times , and they are 35 and 28 . Its the nature of the beast , being a mother .
And no for me cider and beetroot are not a match made in heaven ( and I like beetroot! )

DS1 made me some wintergreen schnapps for Xmas. It's delicious neat or with Coke. Warning though, he made it with Everclear and if you drink it neat it'll make your lips go numb.
