Chandra · 16/06/2004 14:16

Why not?

Fio2 · 16/06/2004 14:18

well I never had to pay when I lived in staffordshire. This is ridiculous. why do you have to pay for them?

We never had to pay before we moved here either.

Toothache · 16/06/2004 14:21

I thought that was what your Council Tax was for??

Is this an additional Wheelie Bin?

Fio2 · 16/06/2004 14:23

no its just for the initial one. I am seriously thinking about nicking one

I never paid for mine. SHouldn't it come with the hosue? Unless of course it's a new house.

Toothache · 16/06/2004 14:23

Well that's a disgrace! Wasn't there one already at the house when you moved in?

lou33 · 16/06/2004 14:24

Nope not here. We had one when we arrived, and during the winter before last the cold and/or the binmen caused it to split. So when we called they told us it was £55 to replace! Des[ite arguing that it wasn't cracked before the binmen got their hands on it, they said they make a note of all damage that they cause, so it couldn't have been them.

Snugs · 16/06/2004 14:24

We only have to pay if it is lost of stolen - because then the council expect you to claim on your household insurance. £55 sounds very steep - when I worked in the trade (3 yrs ago) they were less than £20 wholesale.

Snugs · 16/06/2004 14:25

lost OR stolen !

Fio2 · 16/06/2004 14:25

Lou thats disgusting. 55 quid an all

OP posts:
lou33 · 16/06/2004 14:27

Yes I know. We are still using the split one! We are tight.

Flip · 16/06/2004 14:27

They're cheaper than that at costco. I can't remember how much but it must have been reasonable because I thought about getting another.

lou33 · 16/06/2004 14:28

We have no Costco.

Fio2 · 16/06/2004 14:29

whats costco?

OP posts:
busybee123 · 16/06/2004 14:30

we didnt have to pay for ours. we are entitled to a second wheelie bin if there are more than 6 people in the house but we have to pay 25 for it. its scandalous!! 55 bloody quid!!! what the hell is council tax being used for then?!?!!? apart from the pays those t*ssers wages that is?!?!? RANT RANT RANT!!!

lou33 · 16/06/2004 14:32

Where we used to live they said a household of 6 or more could have a second bin BUT when we reached that amount, we were told that it actually meant 6 ADULTS!! How likely is that?

Flip · 16/06/2004 14:34

Costco is a cash and carry. Lots of bargains.

Flip · 16/06/2004 14:35

here

Fio2 · 16/06/2004 14:36

bedsits I suppose lou. I am just gonna buy a normal bin because they collect black bags anyway. But mine are attracting flies, thats why I asked for a bin. I really cant beleive you have to pay

OP posts:
lou33 · 16/06/2004 14:40

No apparently the bedsits got a tiny bin each.

Fio2 · 16/06/2004 14:41

like one of the containers you put paper clips in?

OP posts:
lou33 · 16/06/2004 15:13

Like those half pint ones you see out and about.

Fio2 · 16/08/2004 11:12

well now we can have a free one because they are only collecting the rubbish evry fortnight which is just ridiculous!
