why not?

belgo · 29/01/2007 18:48

But what if one of them chokes.... or the grapes will get squashed into the carpet

misdee · 29/01/2007 18:48

they should be cut?

how old are the children?

ledodgy · 29/01/2007 18:48

Wrong! They should be eating chocolate fingers.

LucyJones · 29/01/2007 18:50

children were 3

I thought wrong because in the paper a little girl died after choking on 3 grapes - grandma got 2 of them out but couldn't reach the third

surely they would remain completely untouched at a party? They always do if there is junk food alternative.

LucyJones · 29/01/2007 18:51

aw come on cod - opinions needed

harpsichordcarrier · 29/01/2007 18:52

Chocolate fingers all the way. Cadbury's of course!

misdee · 29/01/2007 18:54

yes, and a child chocked to death at a school here on a meatball doesnt mean meatballs should be off school dinners though, does it? [puzzled]

danceswithnewboots · 29/01/2007 18:55

cut up for me. Dcs love grapes but I'm a worrier. tbh adults choke to death on the most ridiculous things so unless you stop them eating at all there is always a risk, whatever they eat.

LucyJones · 29/01/2007 18:55

not saying grapes shouldn't have been served, just thought maybe cut up?
But then maybe it's just cos I read that horrendous story in the paper...

OP posts:
hana · 29/01/2007 18:56

I'd cut them up
it is a serious choking hazzard esp at a party when kdis are runnign around and wolfing down food
imo

hana · 29/01/2007 18:56

i still cut grapes up for my 2 year old but not my 5 year old

belgo · 29/01/2007 18:56

Wouldn't serve meatballs either.

belgo - do you mean at a party or in general?

OP posts:
twelveyeargap · 29/01/2007 18:59

Would never have dreamt of cutting grapes for a three year old. Obviously a bad mother...

SIL, Earth Mother - only parent who makes me feel inadequate - definitely gave her two year old uncut grapes the other week. It's obviously endemic in our family.

NannyL · 29/01/2007 19:10

why on earth would you NOT have grapes at a 3 year olds party?

people get run over / we cross roads
cars have crashes / we drive our kids around
people get bitten by dogs / we go to park
people drown / we go swimming and have naths

u cant wrap children up in cotton wool forever!

foxinsocks · 29/01/2007 19:12

lol at belgo and the grapes squashed into the carpet

NannyL · 29/01/2007 19:12

btw i have choked on a tomatoe

my sister has choked on a doughnut and toast
my mum on a sweet
and my uncle on ornage

therefore maybe tomotos, oranges sweets AND doughnuts should also be banned

tortoise · 29/01/2007 19:14

Ive never cut up grapes either.Mine always bite them in half first anyway!
