some Ebay advice please..

I bidded on a book

I got an e mail to say it had ended and I hadn't won it

Then I got an e mail from the seller saying you have won......... payment is £6.51

But it doesn't say 2nd chance offer or anything, or that the original winner hadn't paid

I only won it last night????????????

If you are not the winning bidder you have no contract with her to buy the book, if she did leave negative feedback she would effectively be telling ebay she was trying to sell something to you without paying their fee (doubt she would do that)

If I get an ebay e-mail I always go onto MY EBAY on the website to see if I can access it via that rather than reply directly.

I am still unlcear as to the format of the invoice, was it in your messages in "my ebay" from the seller, or was it FROM ebay saying you had won the item.
You will have proof of your user name not being on the wiining bid - clike on bidders and you will appear further down the list if you havnt won and therefore you are not the winner.
The item should still be in "my Ebay" items I am bidding on and didnt win section.

Is the seller new to ebay? Maybe it is a simple mistake they have made. Go to the support page on ebay and see if they have any answers there.

Sounds to me like they bid on their own item under another name just to put the price up.

Then when no one put in a higher bid they came unstuck!

It isn't possible for them to leave you any feedback.

If you decide to buy the book it will be nothing to do with Ebay.

I've just had a look at the bidding history and it does actually say that you've won it.

I would confirm this is a valid transaction with Ebay and ask why it doesn't appear in your My ebay before you pay any money.

Yes, it does say that you won it - check your messages in Ebay or ask the seller to send you an invoice as you haven't received one. Ebay emails are sometimes quite random, mine went a bit weird recently!

I can honestly say that I have had no e mail from Ebay to say I had won the book

and It is not in my list of items I have won

I haven't won anything in the last few days (so it says)
