Michelle from Lakeland dead?????

Did anyone else hear that Michelle from Lakeland was dead? I heard that on the radio this morning, was not fully awake so not sure if I heard properly or if it was a joke or what. Coddy? have you heard anything?

That's so awful. Poor Michelle. And now I feel terrible as I made a joke about her hair not looking real. It probably wasn't

I do think we ought somehow to send a messae of sympathy. I'm sure they have a sense of humour at Lakeland, and wouldn't be offended by the past threads. I think that all of us who have contributed to the Lakeland threads (and many lurkers too) have a real liking for Lakeland and I think that they are a company that fosters good relationships with customers and staff. But how could we do it? And would 'Mumsnet' (ie Justine et al) allow it?

um....but every Google search for "Michelle" and "Lakeland" has a Mumsnet discussion in the results. Better get deleting pronto!

Is this really true? How sad, that's awful. I don't think there's anything unkind on the threads about her, is there? I'd have thought they would show that she was held in some affection, tbh.

I don't think anyone was cruel per se, it was more like affectionate mickey taking. I will miss Michelle's letters. I am so glad I have MN as I would have had to feel sad all by myself before

I was in Lakeland Ltd today and asked about Michelle. Apparently, 14mths ago she'd been diagnosed with cancer and given two months to live. She carried on working and in fact was at work on Fri, went out for dinner in the evening, then sadly passed away later that night. The lady I spoke to said she really was a lovely person. They reckoned she was in her early 60's, but weren't too sure. The funeral is tomorrow, donations to a local cancer charity or Children in Need would be preferred to flowers.
