The packing service was really not a big expense, much cheaper than the cost of removal on its own, so I would at least get a quote for removal & packing and a separate one for removal alone & decide then. I only went for packing btw, not unpacking

For that it also included dismantling beds and putting them back up in the new house ......

Ours dismantled beds & put them back up too. And plumbed in our washing machine. They were fab and their packing was excellent.

Well. I did manage an early night. I then got up early, did a very long run with some hill sprints. Had chicken with Savoy cabbage for lunch and been gardening all afternoon. This should hopefully set the week off well. I've also forced twins into revising and wrote an essay plan about the golden years of the Weimar Republic with one, and a sociology thing about crime and punishment with the other. Do I get a prize?

Re: packing etc. Ditto with Badders, I think kettle and toaster in footwell of car important do you can do takeaway that night and toast and tea in the morning. Alternatively, we had a three hour wait in the middle of the day when the bank types were transferring the money and fucked off for lunch so we couldn't get the keys for 2 hrs. We took ourselves and removal men to local pub for nice lunch and treated them to it. In return they worked much later into the eve and reassembled 4 wardrobes for free. And moved loads of v heavy plants in pots. A little goodwill with food and drinks with the removal folk goes a long way I think.

Alsoa good tip to take photo on your phone of all meter readings at old and new house etc and email them to yourself when you arrive so you dont lose the scrap of paper you write them on.

We could never afford a packing or removal service plays worlds smallest voilin 😀 so we rented a truck and did it ourselves
I don't recommend it tbh! 😖
But we moved twice in one year I know so my memories are not fond!

Another advocate of packing services here. I was a life saver on moving day, they were so quick....it would have taken me weeks. AND they even packed and boxed my recycling

Oh yes - good point on photos- anything valuable / breakable - small - a quick snap on the phone - then you know you have everything ........

Yes I am feeling better Badders. I think I'm still a bit 'out of sorts' since travelling to be honest. I'm going to be super strict this week on nutrition and sleep, and lots of water.
