Urgent quick question please wenches - about to go and see my solicitor about house purchase. Garden fence maintenance - how does it usually work? You take charge of one side, and your neighbour does the other? Or you maintain jointly, sharing the cost? Have never owned a house with its own garden before. Ta muchly...

Your house deeds should specify who's responsible for fences madame - usually you take care of the fences on one side of your property & your neigbours have reponsibility for the other side. It's worth checking though - with our last house we had shared responsibility for all fences.

Probably too late now, but fence ownership should be on the deeds. You maintain your side and your neighbour maintains his.
