suzywong · 15/05/2004 09:04

defintiely not Hamble, very creepy
I liked the Cockatoo and Carroll Chell

roisin · 15/05/2004 09:10

Suzy, I found Hamble creepy too - very unpleasant doll. My favourite was definitely Little Ted.

jampot · 15/05/2004 09:19

My favourite was Hamble because she was pudgy and fat (!) and I felt sorry for her (bit like my dh feels about me :0

jampot · 15/05/2004 09:19

even

Why was Hamble creepy?

collision · 15/05/2004 09:22

She was creepy cos she had blank staring eyes and Jemima was a bit more sophisticated. I liked Derek Griffiths as a presenter. Was that his name?

Janstar · 15/05/2004 09:58

Definitely Brian Cant. He was hilarious.

I liked the windows. I vividly remember one film about a wellington boot factory. I informed my mum that, when I grew up, I wanted to work the machine that puts the fluffy insoles into boots!!

batey · 15/05/2004 15:19

Knew someone could do a link.... thanks Hulababy.

Ialways wanted a rocking horse like Dapple.
Never got one though

BadHair · 15/05/2004 16:17

I had secret crushes on Lionel Morton and Jonathon Cohen (the musical one). Apparently I used to go all shy when they came on and I wouldn't look at the screen!

carla · 15/05/2004 17:00

The Herbs? Mary, Mungo and Midge? XX

carla · 15/05/2004 17:01

And .. Playaway, playaway, playaway, playaway....

eidsvold · 15/05/2004 20:37

loved jemima the doll and presenter was don ( russell crowe's father in law!!)

bunnyrabbit · 21/05/2004 15:52

Oh yes playaway....

"Really doesn't matter if it's raining or it's fi-ine"... ooh showing my age now!!

i always thought i'd end up marrying brian cant.
he was just so smiley.

KateandtheGirls · 21/05/2004 16:27

The windows was my favourite bit. I always wanted it to be the arched window, but it never was!

Tommy · 21/05/2004 22:53

Badhair - I liked Jonathan Cohen too!

Although, I always used to think it was very funny at the end when they said "And the pianist was...whoever"
Guess what I thought they were saying....

babster · 21/05/2004 23:39

I loved Jemima and always think of her when dd1 wears stripy tights. There was a presenter called Carol Leader who was known as Barmy Woman in our house, as she had a manic glint in her eye... Loved Floella Benjamin too

Paula71 · 22/05/2004 00:53

My mum made me a Jemima rag doll, I still have it even though it was well-loved and cuddled!

Where does the name Hamble come from anyway? With a moniker like that she was bound to be unloved!

muddaofsuburbia · 22/05/2004 08:41

Loved Floella and I always wanted her heart necklace with the little star cut out of it. saw her on something recently and she still wears it! Same with the polo mint earrings!!

Jonathen Cohen did a concerto tour last summer including a date where I was on holiday - I was desperate to go in the vain hope that as well as cultural repertoire he might launch into "jog jog jog jog jogging along..." Johnny Ball was also great.

I know so many people who seem to have named their pets "Chloe" after one of the presenters but I can't actually remember what she looked like or why she deserved to have an entire generation of the nation's cats and guinea pigs to have her name?
