OMG... I thought that elephant one was fake the first time I looked... it's just so perfect. That's just stunning...

Kelly1978GotRunOverByAReindeer · 30/11/2006 18:49

National Geographic Channel

In the Womb: Animals [N/A]
Sunday, December 10, 2006, at 08P
The incredible and hazardous journey inside the mother's womb of three different mammals: the elephant, the dog and the dolphin. State of the art visual effects, computer graphics and real-time, moving ultra-sound pictures give us never-before-seen pictures from inside the mammalian womb.

Who are you calling bump?

.... Oh.... wait...

hulababy · 01/12/2006 08:45

Saw these on BBC site the other day. They are amazing. I think the photos are created using scans and computer graphics IIRR.

hulababy · 01/12/2006 08:46

"Using a combination of three-dimensional ultrasound scans, computer graphics and tiny cameras, the team were able to show the entire process from conception to birth. "

zippitippitoes · 01/12/2006 08:56

fortyplus · 01/12/2006 09:04

So not QUITE real, but amazing nonetheless!

zippitippitoes · 01/12/2006 09:07

ahh computer graphics..didn't notice that..gulklible moi

paulaplumpbottom · 01/12/2006 09:14

Those are amazing!

hulababy · 01/12/2006 09:17

I think the computer graphics are just to make them more clear and the colours more "real" - as even 4D scans are a bit fussy and unclear at times.

macwoozy · 01/12/2006 09:21

Wow, those photos are incredible.

WonderCod · 01/12/2006 09:34

YUK

colditz · 01/12/2006 09:34

WonderCod · 01/12/2006 09:35

they are not furry
animasl'usp is fur

LadyTophamHatt · 01/12/2006 09:41

The images are enhanced with computer graphics too so the elepahnat wouldn't have looked like that atthe start.

I like the dog one but the elephant one is rubbish. Theres no way thats a real image.

LadyTophamHatt · 01/12/2006 09:43

Ah...sorry I see you already know aboutthe computer stuff.

realjolly · 01/12/2006 22:07

Wow...on the 16 weeks picture, that elephant fetus doesn't look all that different from an early human one!

hatwoman · 01/12/2006 22:20

these were in the paper a week or so ago. the thing that got me was the poor elephant - nearly 2 years pg!!!!

LadyOfThePoinsettias · 01/12/2006 22:34

amazing pics.
agree with hat, my jaw just hit the ground at '2 year gestation period' too!

realjolly · 02/12/2006 11:09

lol...yeah poor elephants...but I suppose an elephant is soooo much bigger then a human, so, they need longer cooking!
Think, Whales also have a VERY LONG gestation time!
