Since having two holidays in France last two years and bringing back vast amounts of wine we have got in habit of sharing a bottle most nights and often more . Looks like there are a few wine drinkers out there how much do you consume . I think I might be catching up from 36 months of pregnancy and the same again breastfeeding

Sorry sandyballs -- that post was really bad timing on my part. Hope tonight works out for you.

gingerbear · 11/05/2004 15:10

also inspired by this thread, Mambo, I too would like to drop a few pounds.

Was living with mum and dad for 8 weeks earlier this year whilst work done on house. The only booze they have in is cheap sherry and 'Lambrini' my mum drinks cos it's cheaper than babycham, so my mid week drinking stopped and I felt so much better for it.
Now back home and DH is v bad influence - he always opens a bottle of wine with dinner, and usually has a bottle of beer whilst getting dinner prepared.
I will get in lots of flavoured water instead.

Hulababy · 11/05/2004 15:12

We drink on average 2 or 3 bottles of wine a week, and also the odd sherry, baileys, port, beer, etc. depending on what takes out fancy. We normally have a drink most nights.

ghengis · 11/05/2004 15:12

My DH is a very bad influence too. It's very hard not drinking if he is unwinding with a few cans of beer. Once I make it past the 7pm - 9pm slot I don't find it a problem, it's that "Phew, the day is over let's unwind" bit that gets me every time.

bootsmonkey · 11/05/2004 15:35

What's the lowest calorie drinkable alcoholic drink???

JeniN · 11/05/2004 15:36

On the plus side you have to drink an awful lot of wine to have worse mortality than a tee-totaller (my brainy scientist sister told me this) but i don't think this amounts to a recommendation ...

CountessDracula · 11/05/2004 15:37

Vodka and slimline tonic I think
or pretty much any clear spirit and diet mixer

KateandtheGirls · 11/05/2004 15:59

Happy Birthday JJ!

ghengis - snap

lemonice · 11/05/2004 16:28

Ghengis i find exactly the same about getting to nine o'clock I just think I might as well not bother. Fatal thing is to walk in the door at six and think i'll have some wine, no probs as thresher atre rather thoughtfully located two doors up the street. Dd1 the queen of double standards is coming back from uni for one night only tonight and having been saintly and only had one bottle of wine since thurs and reading this thread fancy some tonight and i know she is going to make some sarc comment. this although she has taken to ringing randomly at 2 or 3 in the morning to say i luv u etc. this is allowed because she is student.

ghengis · 11/05/2004 16:43

Lol Lemonice (ice and lemon?!!!).

lemonice · 11/05/2004 16:50

Don't know where the name came from, first thing that came in to my head after a few dull variants on my actual name weren't available. Great admiration for others who have come up with such good ones - tho psychologically I'm not sure whether people see it as ..nice or ..ice (as in mixture of sour cold or delicious lemon ice cream prob depends whether i'm being offensive or not)

SpringChicken · 11/05/2004 17:29

Me too dinosaur

In the whole 31 weeks i have been pregnant i have only had about 3 mouthfuls of wine. I have tried on 2 occassions to have a glass as i have fancied one but as soon as i have a sip i feel awfully bad for doing so.

I know people easily go the whole 9 months without even thinking about touching a drop but considering before i was pregnant i would probably have 1-2 bottles throughout the course of the week (chill out after work) and then most weekends 4-5 bottles easily sometimes more on girlies night etc - Am getting v. bored of not drinking now and could just sit down with a nice ice cold glass of Jacobs Creek, Konunga Hill or Blossom Hill.
Mmmmm Mmmmm Mmmmmm

ponygirl · 11/05/2004 17:50

I have now started! Apologies to dinosaur and Springchicken, but, in my defence, I have been pg 3 times + a year's bf for each, so have made my sacrifices for the next generation! Cheers!

serenequeen · 11/05/2004 18:07

fsa says one/two units once/twice a week s/be fine - have to say i'm taking advantage of that leeway. my midwife agrees with me on this

serenequeen · 11/05/2004 18:10

that is for the - ahem - "thirsty" pg ladies

granarybeck · 11/05/2004 19:00

i read the same article jenIN. best article i've ever read, made me feel so much better about my mid week wine drinking. i now view it in a completely different light!

noddy5 · 11/05/2004 19:18

Having looked at this thread a couple of times and as a definite non midweek drinker I have ended up nipping out for a bottle of wine and intend to glug it while watching cutting it!You lot are a bad influence

maisystar · 11/05/2004 19:40

i thought i drank too much until i joined mn!! 1-2 glasses of wine a night, 3-4 at wkends, try to have booze free night once a week but have to actually have to not have wine in the house to achieve this!

i am finding as i get older that i feel more tired in the morning after wine the night before. used to be able to go out and consume vast amounts of alcohol(pre ds!) work the next day and go out the following night, not any more......

Piffleoffagus · 11/05/2004 19:43

I drink like sad lonely wench when dh is away, a bottle alone easy

mambo · 12/05/2004 09:57

1 bottle of beer and 1/2 bottle of red wine last night.

OP posts:
mambo · 12/05/2004 10:02

And tonight there is football on and for some reason that equates with beer in our house AND we really want Newcastle to loose (sorry) because we are staunch Liverpool fans. Also tomorrow night we watch 24 and that means a nice glass of wine and then its Friday

OP posts:
ghengis · 12/05/2004 10:03

A bottle of red wine last night and feel miserable as hell today. Will NOT drink tonight
