£36 for a Cut and Blow Dry - Is that right?

Sparkler1 · 24/11/2006 16:28

Just booked myself an appointment for a cut and blow dry tomorrow afternoon, for some much needed pampering and me time.
I have been quoted £36!!!!
Is this how much it costs these days?
I normally have a lady come to the house just to trim mine and dds' hair and she only charges us about £20 for the three of us.

That's pretty average. I usually pay between £38 and £42 depending on who does it.

dhw · 24/11/2006 16:30

sounds very normal to me. Many of the salons in brighton charge 45-50 smackers. It's so worth it though to make you feel good.

southeastastra · 24/11/2006 16:30

you could get it cheaper! we have a toni and guy place that starts at £38, or if you want the 'director' (hehe) it's £48

nailpolish · 24/11/2006 16:30

yup thats right spark

QuootieMincePieButIDontLikeEm · 24/11/2006 16:31

yup - I paid £55 @ Toni & Guy...

I pay £26 and £56 for highlights. £36 is a bit steep - is it in a city centre or something.

mumfor1standfinaltime · 24/11/2006 16:41

I pay £17, and thats plenty imo! I paid £42 for highlights and I have long hair.

Have never been to Toni and Guy, would have to dress up before I went there lol!

Kittypickle · 24/11/2006 16:43

That's pretty average for round here Sparkler I think. I forked out £55 for a "restyle" in Level a year ago.

WhyDooLittleStarsShine · 24/11/2006 16:46

I spent a year looking for a hairdresser when I moved. Finally I returned to Toni and Guy a second time and a new stylist had started.
£45!! But we got on like a house on fire and I have had so many compliments about my hair this time.

I'm going back again

Not in the city - I'm in Poole Dorset. Salon just up the road from where I live.

Sounds like the going rate then - thanks guys. Just have to decide what I want them to do now. Hair is slightly past shoulder length and naturally curly. People love it - drives me mad. Don't think I want to go short.

I go to toni and guy as I'm a hairstylist and paranoid about a good cut. Need to go soon as going away. I don't go very often though as have long hair. I pay £42 but enjoy my time there.

Sparkler1 · 24/11/2006 17:01

Ulysees - that's why I booked my appointment. I thought sod it - I need a treat. DH will have the girls and I can have a good pampering session with no interruptions. The way I am feeling at the moment I would pay £36 for that alone and go without the haircut

Cut and blow dry at our hairdressers is £18.50 and I thought that was a bit steep. After reading this I'll go and count my blessing I think Oh not that I get to go that often. I know the price because my 15yo and 11yo have had their hair cut there and they were charged adult price.

jessicaandrebeccasmummy · 24/11/2006 17:03

I had a wash,cut,treatment,blow dry and straighten for £27

Smurfgirl · 24/11/2006 17:04

I pay £36 for a cut and blow and T&G with a senior stylist so that seems right to me

Ulysees · 24/11/2006 17:10

Sparkler, my hairstylist is quite hot so I'd go just to get him to run his fingers through my hair

Rookiemum · 24/11/2006 17:36

Depends where you live. I gave up going to my regular hair dressers when they jacked their prices up to £45.00 for a cut and blow dry and found a new place costing £31.00. Don't get me started on the price of highlights.

NomDePlume · 24/11/2006 17:40

Dry trim for me costs £17

Wash, cut and blow dry costs £36

Sounds fine to me.

LIZS · 24/11/2006 17:41

Normal around here.

noddyholder · 24/11/2006 17:41

I paid £48 today

GeorginaA · 24/11/2006 17:44

I paid £30 today for a cut, colour and blowdry ...

... she came to my home though

She told me off for tipping too, but damnit, she does a fab job, it saves me in time and carparking fees and it costs at least half the price of a salon in town!
