£36 for a Cut and Blow Dry - Is that right?

Sparkler1 · 24/11/2006 16:28

Just booked myself an appointment for a cut and blow dry tomorrow afternoon, for some much needed pampering and me time.
I have been quoted £36!!!!
Is this how much it costs these days?
I normally have a lady come to the house just to trim mine and dds' hair and she only charges us about £20 for the three of us.

Do you still use the one I used to use and recommended when your old hairdresser went AWOL, G ?

Trinityrhino · 24/11/2006 18:40

sounds alot to me, I pay £43 for foils, cut and blowdry

depends where you are I guess, we are in a small town

Georgina - I could have had my hairdresser come to my home too and would have saved loads of money but would still have had kids under my feet and mess to look at. I have had a pretty horrid week and needed some pampering. Going to a salon feels like luxury.

If you are near a Toni and Guy I would recommend getting on their list as a model. Cuts are usually free and colour from £10. The students are supervised and I have never had a duff job done on me (although sometimes it does take them hours to get it right).

Gillian76 · 24/11/2006 18:43

I pay £22 for a cut & blow dry in a salon.

NomDePlume · 24/11/2006 18:45

and you have too make them a brew and hoover up all your own hair afterwards if you have it doen at home. At a salon you get pampered - a lovely head massage with your wash and condition, a drink made for you and they clean up the mess afterwards.

NomDePlume · 24/11/2006 18:46

@ 'too make them a brew'

GeorginaA · 24/11/2006 18:47

NdP: I do and she asked after you too She said she'd seen you in town recently or something?

Sparkler: ah - I time mine for when ds1 is at school and ds2 is at nursery and make sure I look out the window I make better cups of tea than a salon too... (well, to my palate at least!)

NomDePlume · 24/11/2006 18:49

I don't recall seeing her, certainly not to say hello to. I do hope I haven't walked past her in the street and blanked her . She is a lovely woman, very pretty, reminds me of a prettier Victoria Beckham

GeorginaA · 24/11/2006 18:51

Ooo you're right ... she does have that look about her. I knew she reminded me of someone, but could never put my finger on it...

She didn't say you'd blanked her, so I imagine it was a 'from a distance' sort of 'seen'

NomDePlume · 24/11/2006 18:53

Thank goodness for that !

I haven't cancelled the appointment - YET!
Keeping thinking about it.

Hopefully I will get a "brew" out of it! Trying to decide what to do with my hair. Anyone got any styles they like to tempt me?
Like I said my hair is naturally curly/wavy - just over shoulder length and very thick.

I pay £38 in westbourne near you sparkler!

Linnet · 24/11/2006 22:39

I pay about that much for my cut and blow dry. The girl who cuts my hair is now a senior stylist but she's been cutting my hair since she was a trainee. So over the years as she's qualified her prices have gone up, but I don't mind as I trust her and would hate to have anyone else cut my hair.

Sparkler1 · 24/11/2006 23:01

Hi ggirl. Are you going to join us on the meet up? Didn't know you were near!

I paid £45 for a cut (restyle) no blowdry, in Toni and Guy, Poole a year ago. I think I had the 'top guy' do it (art director? or someting?!?!)

helsy · 26/11/2006 20:16

I pay 38 quid at Toni and Guy for the third deputy assistant trainee under art director (or something) - or hairdresser, as I like to call them. Used to pay 40 something in a large city.
