5'2"
I like being small !

gingernut · 02/11/2006 20:13

Me. 5 foot.

Where do you buy your clothes girls? Am feeling fed up at the mo because I have to send a load of Fat Face stuff back because it's too big on the shoulders and necklines cut too low .

morningpaper · 02/11/2006 20:15

Hmm good question gingernut.

I tend to go to Debenham's because they have a few Petite ranges - their own collection, Wallis, Precis.

I have got a lot of good mini-skirts this season which are a quite respectable above-the-knee length on me.

For trousers I tend to buy Next - most are too long and I CANNOT be arsed to take things up.

Regarding low necked stuff, I just tend to wear a nice camisole underneath or go for the layed look

me - when I was measured when pg with DS1 it was recorded as 152cm (5ft exactly). However, found out today that it was recorded as 151 (under 5ft) for pg with DS2 and she measured me as 151 again today.

hulababy · 02/11/2006 20:16

I'm 5 foot.

In past I bought a lot from Next and some places in Debenhams. Recently bought a few stuff from Monsoon which fit well.

liath · 02/11/2006 20:17

Next petite and M&S.

Am pregnant now so that's a bit more of a challange as nowhere does maternity wear for shorties as far as I can tell.

Yes, trousers are usually Next or Principles petites but even those are a often a bit long! I knew better than to order trousers from Fat Face (shortest are 30 " inside leg) but thought some of the tops might do. But no. Returns are free at least.

Am going to try using that iron on hemming stuff for shortening trousers cos I'm useless at sewing.

morningpaper · 02/11/2006 20:19

Liath I tended to go for larger sizes in normal clothes until I got to the comedy stage, and then just went for huge trousers and baggy tops

I went from just over 8 stone to over 12 stone

5'2". A lot of places do a shorter leg length now for casual trousers - I've got ones that fit from M&S, Gap and Boden. But I find dresses hard as they are always too long somewhere.

I am 4ft 11.25 in. My mum is 4ft 11.5in.

gingernut · 02/11/2006 20:23

Lol trefusis, I know what you mean re fitted tops going in and out in all the wrong places. That's the reason these Fat Face tops are going back - no point trying the layered look MP, they are massive. I look like a little girl dressing up in her mother's clothes.

Ho hum, back to the usual haunts.

QOQ, maybe you've shrunk!

foxinsocks · 02/11/2006 20:24

I'm not under that height but I do have to wear petite trousers (I'm short legged!). I find a lot more places do petite sizes (for trousers) now.

I can never find trousers in GAP that fit but M&S, Next, other high street stores normally have trousers at the right length. Monsoon has some short length trousers.

theflumpsmum · 02/11/2006 20:25

I'm 4' 11 ..I used to hate being small but now I love it.The only thing that bothers me that even a couple of pounds in weight really notices on me,whereas taller people can let their weight fluctuate more.
Oh that and the fact I have to cut about a foot and a half off of all my trousers lol

gingernut · 02/11/2006 20:27

Liath, try Blooming Marvellous for short fitting trousers.

hulababy · 02/11/2006 20:27

Monsoon have petite now. My Monsoon petite sized jeans fit perfectly. I have some non-peitie skirts too and they fit well too,a nd are not overly long -look perfectly fine. Infact had positive comments a few times when i have worn them.

Bluebear · 02/11/2006 20:29

I'm 5 foot nuffin. - and can't get clothes to fit - most petite ranges seem to think that short people don't have curves, and I have lots of them.

liath · 02/11/2006 20:29

Oooh - monsoon petite! Sounds great, I love monsoon but their skirts are always too long.

A good incentive to get the figure back after pg!

PigeonPie · 02/11/2006 20:29

I'm just under 5' and also had great difficulty getting anything when pg so just ended up in skirts with very expandable waists under the bump. What is it with maternity cloth shops? They seem to think that because you're pg you grow by 4 inches and don't need the 'petite range' anymore!

Tried to go shopping yesterday for some new jeans and skirts as all mine are too big for me and couldn't get any in a size 8 short in M&S in Oxford. Was quite fed up, I really do want some new jeans that actually fit!

MiaOUCHthatHURT · 02/11/2006 20:32

Oooh MP, I never had you down as a littley!!!

I always feel an affinity with people of short stature (we have a similar view of the world, I find ).

I like being small too. Clothes can be a pain but I make a lot of my own and I don't care about fashion so it's not a big deal.

gingernut · 02/11/2006 20:32

e.g. here

Oooooh, Monsoon have a Petite range again? They tried it a few years ago (probably about 7 or 8 years ago) and I bought a couple of things which were really lovely, but they only did it for a couple of seasons so I guess they decided it wasn't profitable enough.
