Hola mi wenchitas - here we are back at the Swagger Inn about to commence our year long speculation about storyline, how longs Aramis' hair will be, will Milady and Athos finally shag, will there be a baby Constagnan or a baby Porthos???

sparks you were amazing and I CANNOT BELIEVE you ad libbed that last line to your question so brilliantly.

Re s2: I wasnt going to say any more about it, but hey. The cast, including mw, has boasted some really great actors. Imo its very very simple: the writing in s2 was just awful (for whatever reason). The changed timeslot and the perceived need to write the show a different way because of that, had a lot to do with it clearly. Im afraid when one writer/creator has a show as his "baby" but just isnt that talented, and the show clearly hasnt got very high commercial importance, no one can be arsed to rein him in.

The US now makes the best tv in the world - see all those shows listed above and more. I think more US involvement can only be a good thing. But Im very concerned that s3 is apparently already written...given that, I wonder how much chance anyone has had to step in and take things in a different direction?

Baddz · 02/04/2015 15:57

Chaise...your shopping was stolen??...
My dc are respectively playing transformers on the PS3 and watching Minecraft on the iPad and writing and drawing in his "special book" .)
Ds2 has been discharged from the paediatrician but ds1 hasn't as he had pneumonia last year and is very atopic ATM :(
Bil is home!
Hope sis will be ok. He will not be easy to care for :(

FancyFancy · 02/04/2015 15:58

I generally love the BBC, but I think the higher level of Poldark promo has much to do with it being a remake of a BBC show. They get to blow their own trumpet about how successful the old one was - how many news items have you seen trotting out the story of vicars changing service times to accomodate the congregation?

The downside of this is that it has to excel in the ratings or it will be seen as a complete failure. So they promote the crap out of it.

The promo for TH has been farcical though, and surely if there's nothing on the DVD that hasn't already been seen, that won't help sales?

Baddz · 02/04/2015 15:59

Farcical
Yes
Spot on

FancyFancy · 02/04/2015 16:09

Also Shock at stolen shopping chaise, what happened?

Glad your bil is well enough to be home badders & hope his family get help, & not just from you.

I found it hard to get past MW's creepy voice as Rochefort - not sure if that was his idea or the director's. I felt he might as well have been walking round with 'villain' tattoed on his forehead & it made it seem unlikely that anyone would have warmed to him and trusted him as rapidly as they did.

Enormouse · 02/04/2015 16:16

Someone stole your shopping chaise? What, by accident or on purpose?

badders that's good news re BIL. Maybe your sister can get respite care of some sort?

I am rapidly losing faith in tv at large, tv that has always been there for me. The shocking treatment of TM, the writing out of one of my favourite characters on arrow because Will Smith is going to play him next year. I'm just going to stick to comedy boxsets for a bit.

ChaiseLounger · 02/04/2015 16:23

Sorry I didn't mean to overdramatise! I hadn't paid for it!

I went to sainsburys yesterday, there was tonnes of reduced stuff, heavily reduced.

I put in my basket: 2 x 4 fresh burgers, 2 x 12 meatballs, a chicken pie, 2 fish cakes, 4 chicken escalopes, a packet of chicken dippers.

Was really pleased : meals and snacks for the next few days.

Carried on shopping: Rose wine, deodorant, grapes, tomatoes, broccoli, asparagus.

Put my basket down to walk to the next aisle to get some bread.
Came back, someone had knicked all my reduced items.

Was truely shocked. Stood there, looking at my basket. Then went back and got a full price chicken pie and some full price burgers.

Dh said 'well you Wont put your basket down again, will you!!

No, I wont.

MadamedeChevreuse · 02/04/2015 16:26

mouse do you like parks and rec?

fancy glad you got good news today and badders glad bil is home. Hope he is ok and gets the support he needs (from the nhs, not just you /family!)

Back now from a torrid trip away in which I basically went to bed in the b&b with a massive migraine for 2 days. Have decided going cold turkey on the drugs is the only way forward. Its going to be a bad few weeks apparently, oh well.

chaise stick to the posh overpriced stuff in future?! Wink

FancyFancy · 02/04/2015 16:28

That's still pretty bad chaise - the cheek of some people Shock

ChaiseLounger · 02/04/2015 16:29

Pours glass of Rose wine. Cheddars at the ready. Have chosen 10 for a re-watch. Presses play.

SparklesRedHotChileLeather · 02/04/2015 16:30

The BBC can FRO.

In the meantime, I give you these. So much pretty. SO MUCH GODDAMN PRETTY

ChaiseLounger · 02/04/2015 16:31

Besides I can watch as much musketeers as I like. Because I've hit Fxxk all spaghetti and meatballs to cook now Wink

MadamedeChevreuse · 02/04/2015 16:35

Yy that there was no believability in rocheforts evilness / bafflingly rapid and easy ascent to power. Dont think it was his acting, just the way it was written. Not enough time for believable plot or character development, way too many wtf???? plot hole moments.

For me the prob with s2 was the attempt to cram way too much in too quickly, and way too much of the court / political stuff. Adrian, wolf hall it is not.

And not enough ups and downs in the emotion, iyswim. dynamically it was one long downer, with the musketeers / queenies fortunes going from bad to worse, until right at the end when they won out.

I hate to say it but the dauphin parentage storyline did dominate far too much and turned out to be a bit of a loser. Could / should have been handled differently imo.

ChaiseLounger · 02/04/2015 16:36

Music for the whole Connie escaping, MW stood there looking at them riding off was very dramatic.

FancyFancy · 02/04/2015 16:36

Enjoy, chaise that sounds perfect!

Sad * madame, what a shame - has the migraine gone now?

What a lot of pretty sparks, thank you for posting that.

I especially like this one

Swagger Inn: Thread 90. The week after the Friday Finale.
ChaiseLounger · 02/04/2015 16:37

BBC FRO he he.

Enormouse · 02/04/2015 16:38

Parks and rec with Chris Pratt? I did mean to watch it but have never found he time. Is it good?

chaise what an unscrupulous prick.

madame I just found S2 pretty flat. I loved S1, the rollicking fun and quips and comradeyness and it was far sexier than S2.

ChaiseLounger · 02/04/2015 16:41

sparks link has tonnes of our favourites.

FancyFancy · 02/04/2015 16:46

I think I'm in a minority for not minding the Dolphin storyline, but I totally agree s2 was less sexy and less funny. The lack of humour was a real misjudgment, especially as the actors did it very well in s1 & it helped to show the bond between them all.

I'm hoping that it wouldn't be too hard to put more humour into s3 even if it has largely been written already - it was the dialogue that was funny in s1, not the situations.

SparklesRedHotChileLeather · 02/04/2015 16:49

Where is that Geek Syndicate chat eh? We need to have our questions prepared for Ade. I will shout in here when they ask on Twitter.

ChaiseLounger · 02/04/2015 16:56

Porthos in the whole Vargas scene was brilliant.
as was Aramis in the Rochefort courtroom.

ChaiseLounger · 02/04/2015 17:02

MW eyebrows are there. Just blonde. Can't undestand the issue with his eyebrows.

ChaiseLounger · 02/04/2015 17:07

I don't think Adrain realises how shallow we are Wink : we just want sexy, shirts off, passion, brotherhood, funny quirks, leaning.

Fuck the deep and meaningful.

FancyFancy · 02/04/2015 17:10

Well put chaise Grin

FolknNorah · 02/04/2015 17:10

WHAT OBS SAID NEEDS TWEETING

Fuck storylines. I want to see bare chested men frolicking NOT WITH EACH OTHER and running and punching and throwing stuff.
And laughing.
And joking.
And coming to get me.
