Sorry, need you to put your work hat on for a min. Sore calf muscle, have had it for months, manifests itself as a dead leg when I run. But could only feel it when I ran. Now I'm obviously running far greater mileage I can feel it all the time the past few days. Have rested for 2 days but am due for next 10 mile-plus run tomorrow - do I just accept that at my age training for a mara, I'm going to have niggles? Or should I stop until it eases off? (Noooooooo) Or should I see a sports masseur or a physio? Am stuck!

Ok Sparks....Calves can be a bugger, injure them and the injury can hang about for bloody ages.

When you say dead leg, does it go numb or just more sore? Does it cramp

Does the soreness get worse, stay the same or improve between runs?

Is it muscle belly or tendon?, gastroc or soles?

Is it painful to pressure, can you feel any hard lumps in the muscle belly?

Do you do any specific stretching/strength work for your calves

Hello wenchi - joining badders in the feeling (post xmas?) blue corner. Xmas was going so well...but has totally fucked up the past few days. Ds HATED the panto, to the extent that he had a total wetty and started howling when we tried to sit down after interval. Totally unable to calm him down, so we went home.

Then have had rumbling row with dp that has been going on for a couple of days. Due to dp fuckwittery, long story, Im now home on my own and he is at ils with ds and dss's til weds, if he actually deigns to come home then to spend new years eve with me. Which is looking touch and go. And I have to go back to work tomorrow.

Re the webchat - does anyone think that if it is put out somehow to tom that a mumsnet webchat could be a good way to promote Operation Smile, he'd be all over it like a wench on a wet half naked Musketeer???
