I am travelling to Crawley this weekend, from the M3 and M25. Really want to go to Aldo for some shoes I have seen and notice there was a shop in Croydon.
Can anyone tell me how far off the motorway it actually is and if I'll be going totally out of my way? Will i be able to re-join the M25 in the right direction and how is parking? Is Aldo in a shopping centre or in the town.

Help is greatly appreciated

Neither - go to Kingston Or get them on-line

LIZS · 02/10/2006 14:03

Took me at least an hour Croydon to Gatwick last time (see why I hate driving there !), then at least 10 minutes more into Crawley depending whereabouts you are going. There is an Aldo in Brighton too !

lol, I've asked a totally indipendant adjudicator and he says go soupys way at wing yip, but carry on up to the roundabout near the coucil offices like I said and round.

mosschops30 · 02/10/2006 14:05

ooh another possibility then (didnt notice that) would brighton be easier?

you can all shoot me if you wish

pmsl, YES!

SoupDragon · 02/10/2006 14:05

No Kelly, you don't go near the council buildings/roundabout because you turn off before that. And it's not that confusing, you just need to read the signs and concentrate.

If you go your way you'd add about 20 minutes on a weekend!

mosschops30 · 02/10/2006 14:06

only 22 miles from crawley to brighton?

OP posts:
sandyballs · 02/10/2006 14:07

Blimey, YES. Go to Brighton, much easier, then back up M23 to Crawley.

SoupDragon · 02/10/2006 14:07

Only a mad man would go up round the council offices.

KellyKrueger1978 · 02/10/2006 14:07

hmm, she is right abt the traffic, I'll give the dragon that!

Brighton is jsut down the end of the m23 and has to be easier to get to than croydon. Be a lot quicker from brighton to crawley too.

SoupDragon · 02/10/2006 14:07

Brighton is infintely easier to get to but parking is a bit of a nightmare

KellyKrueger1978 · 02/10/2006 14:08

thanks soupy!

Tho, I would go via purley way in any case.

Bellie · 02/10/2006 14:08

if you are sure that you want the shoes - it will actually be quicker to park at coulsdon south like sandyballs said, and train it in - 2 stops- 15 mins max- walk (well signposted) 15mins max, and then reverse the journey - back in 1/12 hours max and then only 15 mins back to m23. No getting lost in one way systems or caught up in lunchtime traffic heading to ikea!

KellyKrueger1978 · 02/10/2006 14:09

poor mosschops, was such an innocent question

LIZS · 02/10/2006 14:10

Allow about 40 minutes Crawley to Brighton town centre - 25 minutes down then another 15 to park.

mosschops30 · 02/10/2006 14:10

think i will go to brighton, miles is exactly the same from croydon to crawley but with the traffic and roadworks think it might be easier and quicker, well done LIZS.

whodunnit soupy or kelly?

KellyKrueger1978 · 02/10/2006 14:14

soupy has gone very quiet, sign of guilt?

LIZS · 02/10/2006 14:24

oh no maybe Soupy {whispers} has a real life

Kaloo20 · 02/10/2006 14:46

I vote you follow Soupy instructions to the letter. I have just followed them mentally and they are spot on. I think Kelly may just be confusing the issue here.

Soupys instructions work. The landmarks are correct, the instructions are correct and all I would add is when you go up the spiral ramp into Centrale carpark, choose the Right Hand Lane to enter the carpark. Turn right immediately through the barriers - do not go up and you often find a space on that floor as everyone mises it

.... strangely we often get the same space - I did again on Saturday afternoon !!! Now that's spooky !

bambi06 · 02/10/2006 14:55

click on aa autoroute.co.uk and it will show you exactly which way to go and then you can print it out..persoanlly i always use the whitgift centre carpark as i find its easier to get to..keep going past the underpass[dont go under underpass ] there will be a set of traffic light and then after that a big building with whitgift centre written onit and you can access the car park from just after the traffic light and then once in whitgift keep walking all the way through onto croydon high street an aldo will be virtually opposite you as you enter the centrale centre

KellyKrueger1978 · 02/10/2006 14:56

she's going to brighton!

I am getting off here now, I'm gettign ganged up on.

foxinsocks · 02/10/2006 16:53

where are you coming from (surely this will influence where you need to get back to)?
