Anyone got this recipe book? If so, what's it like?

Yes - I saw this and wondered the same. Looked interesting. Gordon Ramsay's wife, yes?

Yes - it's the book people site I'm looking at and am wondering whether to add it to my basket. Apparently "a cookbook every family will swear by - but not in the traditional Gordon way."

god i so want ot hate her

SoupDragon · 28/09/2006 11:42

Any paricular reason, COd?

I just got this yesterday - after flicking thru, feel inspired - some yummy looking savoury muffins in there, pretty straightforward and practical food that everyone will eat - not to grown up for kids and not to plain or samey for grown ups - well worth it.... Although how she stays quite so slim is a mystery

FrankButcher · 28/09/2006 11:54

God,this annoys me sooo much.Who is she to release a cook book.Jeeeezuz, talk about 'style' over substance.

mum2monkeys · 28/09/2006 11:58

It really is a nice book, by a working Mum with 4kids, have to admit similar first reaction FB, but if it's practical, easy to follow with good ideas and nice food for all the family who gives a fig who its by?

berrycherry · 28/09/2006 12:00

she is a food editor or something?? Good on her, and she looks great, after having 4 kids, and putting up with gordon!!

FrankButcher · 28/09/2006 12:00

It's not even written by her.
Would you have time to write a cookbook if you had four kids and ran marathons??

A few years ago she was boasting about how she knew owt about cooking.

But...if you want to part with your hard earned cashe and spend it on a frippery that contains recipes no different to those you would find in a 1971 Women's Realm cookbook (yours for 45p from local Scope shop) then hey! Be my guest!!!

SoupDragon · 28/09/2006 12:19

So, you've read the book and didn't like it FB?

OP posts:
FrankButcher · 28/09/2006 12:19

I read an article re her and excerpt from it in last week's Observer.

SoupDragon · 28/09/2006 12:24

Ah. So you've based your opinion on what you're read in the papers. snigger

I do realise that most of the recipes are rehashed versions from elsewhere - all recipes are really when you think about it.

mum2monkeys sums up my feelings on "celebrity" cookbooks really.

As I said-your money,your choice.

Enid · 28/09/2006 12:28

I would never buy it

she is too thin and too slebby

mum2monkeys · 28/09/2006 12:31

FB she does say in her book that it wasn't until she had her kids that she even bothered with cooking, not like she's trying to pass herself off as Gordon mark II or anything

morningpaper · 28/09/2006 12:34

I'm hoping that if I buy it I will wake up next to Gordon Ramsay

With a fabulous nanny to look after my children for the day while I plan what to do with him

nailpolish · 28/09/2006 12:36

if i was a millionaire, i would be fabulous looking, with fabulous hair, a gorgeous house, because i would have hairdressers, stylists, cleaners, nannies, personal trainers, gardeners, etc etc etc

but that doesnt mean her recipes arent nice

mum2monkeys · 28/09/2006 12:45

have to say np whilst she is very slim, she looked as knackered as the next mum in a lot of the photos, but maybe that's just clever marketing

oliveoil · 28/09/2006 13:47

oooh you spiteful lot, just because she looks fab, miaowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

I saw a few recipes in the MOS magazine I think and they looked ok

Does she mention whether she irons the creases in her dh's face or not?

bundle · 28/09/2006 13:54

MoS Olive?
I rest my case....

I would rather feed my children turkey twizzlers than fill her already overflowing coffers by buying her book.

nailpolish · 28/09/2006 13:55
