I apologise in advance for the topic of conversation, i'm sure you are all as fed up of it as i am now.

My H/A called me today to tell me that in the new housing policy bands I have been placed in HIGH band. It isn't the top band, there is URGENT band above it. They said that i have a very good position in my band but given my areas of choice (sutton coldfield and Lichfield) they cannot forsee any 3 beds becoming empty.
I know that they cannot possibly know for sure, but basically in the past 2 years neither place has had a house become vacant.

I know i could get rehoused alot quicker if i were to put down other areas, but i'm just not sure. I love living here, but at the moment it's driving me mad. My only alternbative seems to be to either move to a complelty different area or rent privatly here.

Am i being to picky ?? Should i widen my areas of choice ??? I'm giving myself a headache trying to decide what to do. I have to say, i would be devastated to leave this area.

Well I live in Stafford - so I recommend that, I used to live in Rugeley (thats OK), I have lived in Kent and Milton Keynes, but still came home to Stafford. I also like Telford (Milton Keynes was based on Telford) fantastic park and shopping facilities. Its nice to have the chase on your doorstep, many a day spent up there - free day out.

Yes Telford like most places has seriously weird bits like flats that look the same but only in some areas. Cannock chase is lovely

smiler2, lack of pavements meant lots of mums (i wasn't one at the time) pushed buggies on muddy grass verges (enormous - can't see why they couldn't have put a pavement there - all money from europe, perhaps they don't like pavements) and looked completely fed up. ok if you have a car i suppose

Bundle, think that looking back you are right about the pavements, hadn't even thought about buggy hazards being quite new to all this! In fact not sure whether Telford is a child-friendly place to be...did get the impression that most people drove everywhere.

Hi,
I used to live in Hednesford and Heath Hayes, now I have moved to Tameside with the misters work.

I loved living in the Cannock area and I can't wait to return. There are parts of the district you may wish to avoid but you get that anywhere.

The schools around Cannock are OK, I did alright.
Lots of churches and centres with play groups, and a 24 hour Tescos in Heath Hayes (I miss that, the shops round here shut at 9)

Lichfield and Sutton tend to be expensive but you get what you pay for.

It familiar to me so thats why it feels like a safe place.
