Yorkie, don't love - don't get yourself upset by those comments please. She's really not worthy of another thread.

Yg, you have been so incredibly strong, please dont let this STUPID comment get to you.

Cxxxxxxx

twinsetandpearls · 20/09/2006 22:33

I don't think anyone has said it is OK, the post has been roundly condemned by everyone, and those that haven't joined in the condemning probably just can't see the point in adding their name to the thread.

I think MD just made a flippant but unwise remark and pressed post message before thinking. Quite reminscent of the BF thread a while ago.

There were similar comments about Steve Irwin too, YG - that he "asked for it".

We all do risky things all the time, even if not to the same degree; you can't ever justify comments like that.

emkana · 20/09/2006 22:34

She even defended her first horrible post though, which made it worse.

Moomin · 20/09/2006 22:34

It was thoughtless and crass but I agree with HuwE - don't waste your precious energy. Let's hopmd never has to find out for herself how dreadful comments like that are for people who are grieving. (Although it's pretty hard to understand even if you're not tbh). Ignore it.

donnie · 20/09/2006 22:35

she won't apologise or climb down yorkiegirl - she likes controversy.Just don't go there , after all you have been through.

Jimjams2 · 20/09/2006 22:35

YG of course its not alright. The first thing dh said to me when we saw the news was "you know he has young children don't you". We both like him anyway, but even if we didn't it wouldn't be OK.

I think about you lots Yorkie.

HRHQueenOfQuotes · 20/09/2006 22:36

YG - I'm sorry you had to read those comments, I'm sorry anyone had to read those comments, but you in particular at the moment. Please don't let one person's comments set you back.

expatinscotland · 20/09/2006 22:36

Well, even if he didn't have young children, he's still someone's son, maybe a brother, a devoted uncle, a friend, etc.

you know its not ok yg, and that makes you a better person IMO, and the majority of posters on this site.

ignore ignore.

though i am as well.

expatinscotland · 20/09/2006 22:38

This is sad, b/c it reminds me of all the controversy surrounding the death of the British climber Alison Hargreaves, who was a mother of two young children when she perished on K2, and was lambasted in the press. SO many climbers, overwhelmingly male, stood up for her.

She couldn't have been who she was if she didn't climb.

Maybe that's how it was for Richard Hammond.

sugarfree · 20/09/2006 22:38

If his wife has half the strength you have shown lately my love, she'll be ok.

Ulysees · 20/09/2006 22:39

Do any of you know MD in RL? Just wondering about her sanity tbh? Or whether she has a real problem as it was a really shocking comment. Can't understand anyone, never mind a mum, making such a comment.

Try not to think about her YG. NO one else is thinking this way.

lucy5 · 20/09/2006 22:39

Oh Yorkie!

Crystaltips · 20/09/2006 22:40

having said that .... she will get support ..... as most MNr's are bigger than that ....

Jimjams2 · 20/09/2006 22:41

Yes Yorkie she does. Firmly wedged. You know, everyone is shocked by the comments. Don't let them upset you.
