I think she was trying to be smart, but it backfired on her. piece of work there, judging and sniggering, vile if you ask me.

swedishmum · 20/09/2006 22:43

Had to check the other thread to see what the comment was. It was vile and uncalled for but please don't let some unhinged mean minded individual get to you. Nobody else seems to think like her. Isn't she a SALT? If so, so much for the caring professions.
I think it's horribly sad. I'm sure he's a fantastic dad (heard him talk very proudly on TV about his children).

Expat - yes I remember that controvesry (sp) sprang to mind when discussing Irwin's death too, but as you say, that's what makes a person. For most of us what makes us 'us' are pretty 'normal' day to day things, but for others more challenging (and consequently dangerous) pursuits makes them 'who' they are. Very sad when someones 'life' is brought against them when they're fighting for their lives

expatinscotland · 20/09/2006 22:44

Yes, sugar, and his father discusses how he grappled w/his feelings about his son's choices.

I got to see Alison speak before she passed on. She was very motivating, and did so much to promote climbing among women and making us have more confidence in ourselves.

She was an inspiration to many.

YG i know you don't know me but can I just send you a cyber hug
it was a really nasty thing for her to say

handlemecarefully · 20/09/2006 22:46

Yorkiegirl - 100% behind you, it is not okay to say such a thing.

How are you little girls doing? Your youngest is the same age as my youngest (ds) since we used to be on same antenatal thread. I do think of you all often and hope that you are coping....somehow...

Jimjams2 · 20/09/2006 22:46

Yes, angry is probably it. Me too YG. Like someone else's shit doesn;t matter. Of course it does.

BettySpaghetti · 20/09/2006 22:47

Yorkiegirl, I'm sorry that you've been angered and upset by what was said on that thread.

I really didn't expect a comment like moondog's when I started the thread after hearing the news -I thought everyone would be equally shocked and saddened.

YG - some people can't every imagine anythying bad ever happening to them. Empathy? Lacking. Ignore. Please.

Smurfgirl · 20/09/2006 22:55

YG I don't know you but I think of you often, I am sorry you have been affected by such thoughtless comments x

tamum · 20/09/2006 22:57

YG I can completely see why this has upset you. Don't take it to heart, it was a vile post but virtually everyone sees it as that.

YorkieGirl - how are you doing?
Don't let moondogs comment upset you, she's not worth it. Stay away from that post and look after yourself.

twinsetandpearls · 20/09/2006 23:00

I think evertone agrees that MD said something crass and that may make you feel omentarily angry, I think some peopel are finding it hard to understand why others are getting so upset. I think that is what CD was referring to by knicker twisting.

Gingerbear · 20/09/2006 23:01

It was a dreadful thing to say Yorkiegirl, and completely unjustified, But 99% of folk think MD was wrong to post those things. It is NOT OK, of course it isn't.
