I have no idea. We were in a little shop in Belgium where they sell fags and booze stupidly cheap, and It was just Sy and me (we took 2 vans and I was in one with him) cause the others were headed to Paris to somewhere to get something. Or something but anyhow, the plan was to meet up in Arras, as we would be running about 2 hours behind them, due to the stop in Belguim. Was having fab time in Veet (belguim) looking at all the wonderfully chea stuff this guy was selling and 2 truckers came in. They had been on the same freighter as us and were really lovely guys, so he asked if I wanted a look round his truck and I said sure - was nice, dvd player, fridge etc and a 'secret from customs' little pocket full of porn dvds. So he asks if I want any dvds - they wernt just porn. So I said thanks and got out the truck, they drove off - I turn round adn there are Police men everywhere an the whole place is empty cept for me (and poor Sy who had waited for me)
That talked french to us for a couple of hours, neither of us knew wtf they were on about and I think they gave up in the end. They took our van to bits though which took ages. DOnt know what they were looking for but they didnt find anything
So off we went to Paris, but as we got into Arras we were stopped again by the police. ( I was asleep though so didnt know until I heard Sy say Oh shit) and they had guns! Were taken out of van and to the station, they took our passports and documents and we were stuck there for 4 bloody hours. Had to pay a fine of 90E, wouldnt have paid it without knowing what for except that it was hot and we couldnt understand what they were saying and we were about to miss the ferry....
Got into Paris but the other van had already left - well we were now 8 hoursa late!
4 hours back to Calis as there was an accident on the motorway.
Sigh
Got on ferry which was delayed in the sea for some reason. Had hree course meal though which was yummy.
Got into Dover - 12 hours behind scedual.
M23 tailbacks for 3 hours. Then they closed the motorway.
Sy hadnt since 5pm friday and was exhausted, so we decided to just spend another night in the van.
Got home about half an hour ago, I should have been back last night!!!
saying that though -
I had a fabby time and really loved it and am going again in a couple of weeks - although hopefully we wont have so much bad luck! I met some fab people, had a laugh and even smiled through the crappy time - during the 4 hours at Arras station I decided to sunbathe just outside the door lol
I cant thank Sy enough - he didnt know me, yet really looked after me for the last few days, He is really lovely - luckily for me as ive just been stuck with him since thursday evening! I was never too concerned because although I didnt know him, you could tell his was the type to look after you - bless him.
Have a slightly suntanned left arm
Also really loved the freighter ferry (we got the people one on the way back) Met some top people on their, cant wait to do it again!
