Dolls House + extra rooms + furniture from ELC .... hardly ever (OK never) played with.

fennel · 10/07/2006 09:34

dd1 - climbing frame. played on endlessly.

dd2, oh dear, can't remember. but she also plays with the climbing frame.

fennel · 10/07/2006 09:37

other things they got and liked around this age:
Bikes. Scooters. water slide thing for the garden. Dolls house (not played with loads really but i like it).

little tables and chairs for indoors or outdoors.

NomDePlume · 10/07/2006 09:37

DD got a new Little Tykes play kitchen (her main present), a talking Dora the Explorer, a talking Backpack (from Dora), a talking zebra from Madagascar.

NomDePlume · 10/07/2006 09:38

for her 4th birthday next month we are going to get her a new bike (a proper one to replace her disney trike).

tortoiseshell · 10/07/2006 11:28

thanks so far - was considering a dolls house, but interesting that your dds didn't really play with it. Any more?

Hello there tortoiseshell!
Dd will be getting, by request, a pink flashing microscooter which is recommended for 3s and up (two wheels at back and more stable, from Letterbox)
and the smallest size space-hopper, also from Letterbox, after she nearly brained herself trying to scramble onto ds' six-plus model.
Oh, and life membership of an Extreme Sports Club
But the thing she has played with most over the past year is a handful of now rather grotty caterpillar balloons (uninflated, 99p from Woolies). We just cull and replace the really fetid ones from time to time. They are her "babies" apparently.
Cannot believe how quickly those three years have gone can you?

fennel · 10/07/2006 12:17

space hoppers are popular with mine as well. Also Playmobile goes down well (they prefer it to the more wooden dolls house stuff).

albatros · 10/07/2006 12:25

dd2 is 3 in a few weeks and wants a Furby after seeing them on TV. she tells everyone when they mention her b'day that she is getting one. I feel I have to buy her one or else she will be really disappointed but are they really suitable for her age and can they do much? For dd1 3rd we brought a pop up tweenies tent which she loved and still gets used alot.

CaptainFlameSparrow · 10/07/2006 12:33

DD's favourite thing was a wooden noah's ark from thenaturalbabyresource.co.uk

hana · 10/07/2006 12:36

also bought dd the elc dollhouse for her 3rd birthday. hardly ever played with......she uses it a lot more now - she's nearly 5
I was gutted as I spent a lot of money at the time one it and really WANTED her to like it as much as I did!

Thanks for all the ideas - would appreciate any more, as am really stuck. Marina, I can't believe they're going to be 3 either! Have you any plans for your dd's birthday? We're having a little 'teddy bears picnic' party.

Dora Scooter,Dressing up shoes(played with loads),kids knex(not touched!),Lucky ducks game(played quite a bit).

CountessDracula · 10/07/2006 14:15

a fantastic trike with proper tyres, she adores it still and is nearly 4

tortoise · 10/07/2006 14:16

albatros my 9 year old ds has a furby. Its good but I wouldnt get a 3 year old one.It uses voice recognition so commands need to be clear.Unless your dd is a great speaker. He's bored with it already!

harpsichordcarrier · 10/07/2006 14:18

this - pop up combo from ELC
yes she loves it

PrettyCandles · 10/07/2006 14:20

Dolls house + furniture and doll family - absolutely adored, played with non-stop for at least 4m, then intermittently ever since. 5yo ds also enjoys the dolls house. My mum got dd a shopping trolley and playfood - also adored, but used as a doll's pram for first few months, only recently 'become' a shopping trolley!

tortoise, thanks for that unfortunatly she has got her heart set on one. I will have to look around and find another interactive soft toy, she has a dog (toy) that barks when you go near it and loves that. When I was young I had a talking monkey which I loved and took everywhere with me.
I will have to do more research

PrettyCandles · 10/07/2006 14:36

My brother gave dd a little dog and vet accessories. The dog barks, whines, etc, you're supposed to be able to hear its heartbeat throgh the special stethoscope. Dd loves it (in fact she's just been taking my ear temperature and giving me medicine as I post ) and has played with it frequently ever since receiving it. It's a Barbie branded toy, but not OTT.
