charliecat.Poor you i know the feeling i failed 3 times in uk.Now i am in irish republic i can drive on a2nd provisional licence[legally]If i fail my test i can drive away by meself[crazy or what!?]It seeems like a huge hurdle dosen't it but keep plugging away.I am sure that on my last test the examiner clutched his heart..that put me off

moondog · 06/07/2006 22:25

Oh Charlie.
You'll never be as twattish as me.
Passed on fifth attempt!!
Onwards and upwards.
It's in the bag next time!

moondog · 06/07/2006 22:25

lol at heart thing

AllieBongo · 06/07/2006 22:25

bless you. it's horrible. at least next time you know what to expect. {{{fluffy hugs}}}

JonesTheSteam · 06/07/2006 22:26

You can have some from me.

I failed twice. The second time the examiner had to grab the wheel from me because I nearly went into a hedge.

And I'd swapped cars from a Peugeot to a Nissan 2 days before and in those days Japanese cars had their windscreen wiper control on the other side of the steering wheel.

I kept putting the wipers on everytime I tried to indicate.

I also burst into tears when the examiner told me I'd failed

Not as bad as a school friend though - she got to the end of the road the test centre was on and crashed into a skip

Passed third time, though - yay!!

xob · 06/07/2006 22:27

Oh Charlie! there's no rhyme and reason to these tests - it will happen for you!

waterfalls · 06/07/2006 22:28

dont give up, a frien of mine passed on his 13th test

love the thread title

AllieBongo · 06/07/2006 22:28

i passed mine, but drove like a moron. examiner grabbed the wheel at one point. still passed though. it's all crapola

NannyL · 06/07/2006 22:29

i failed 5 times before passing on the 6th

my 1st i had 8 major faults...

one of which was running over a blind man.... at least i would have done had examiner not used his dual control brake

southeastastra · 06/07/2006 22:29

it's ok the test is designed to make you fail for the slightest thing, keep going!

Jimjamskeepingoffvaxthreads · 06/07/2006 22:29

don;t worry on my first test I drove on the wrong side of the road leaving the test centre. and the examiner applied the brakes and shouted :you were about to hit that car Passed it no problem second time......

Sympathy though. I remember the feeling.

JackieNo · 06/07/2006 22:29

Oh no - poor you. I thought of you all day (well, intermittently) after our conversation in the middle of last night.

charliecat · 06/07/2006 22:30

OMG you have made me laugh though Didnt trash myself in a skip, just sort of chugged round the track like an idiot.

Im used to chat chat chatting away and the examiner was called TREVOR and was like a stiff robot. It was grim.

tortoise · 06/07/2006 22:33

oh dear cc.Thats a shame.
Better luck next time
(I haven't learnt to drive yet)

Carmenere · 06/07/2006 22:33

Commiserations Charliecat, i'm sure you will do it next time

Doobydoo - I drove on my provisional in Eire for 6 years(failed the test once)In all seriousness I was a pretty good driver merely because I lived in the country and the city and drove a lot, never got a ticket, never even tapped another car. I haven't driven much in the UK in the last 5 years but I am going to get a course of lessons and do the test this year because I loved driving and I miss it lots. The system in Ireland is crazy though.

mumfor1standfinaltime · 06/07/2006 22:34

Don't give up! I feel for you. I passed on my 8th test, I took 3 tests whilst heavily pg (one at 8.5m pg!)and think I put far too much pressure on myself to pass in time for new arrival.
Don't put pressure on yourself - try to imagine you are in charge, not the examiner! You have the wheel, show him/her you can drive! Good luck for next time x

charliecat · 06/07/2006 22:39

gawd, should have posted this earlier, have been in tears most of the night.

I know exactly how you feel, I failed one test for driving through chevrons on the road and one for bumping the kerb when doing a 3 point turn, so frustrating. I was so mad at myself!

Forget all about it and get on the phone to book next test.

southeastastra · 06/07/2006 22:41

how many tests have you done

Carmenere · 06/07/2006 22:41

Ohh you poor thing, don't cry fgs, Moondog took 5 times and mumfor1st ect took 8 goes. You will get there xxx
