Was fine the hour before. Feel ill at the thought of having to do it again. Need some sympathy

Yes that's right 8! lol!
I think it makes you a better driver to fail, as you want to get on the road so much and learn more on the journey to get on the road iykwim!

charliecat · 06/07/2006 22:45

SEA, this is my first one.

Another one who took 5 attempts here

Don't give up! I should have passed first time, I did really well but was failed for silly things. The next three tests I drove like an arse, nearly ran over a man on a zebra crossing and was at lights with a boy racer revving and pulling forwards and backs racing me at the lights so I put my foot down and burnt him off shouting "wanker" out the window

Passed on my 5th attempt despite nearly crashing into a parked car!

southeastastra · 06/07/2006 22:50

well they won't let you pass first time!

charliecat · 06/07/2006 22:55

I feel soooo much better now. Gonna print this off and take it with me to read before my next one. Big relieve sigh. My house frigging family and mates have passed first time.
It would have been a miracle if I had passed today...more stories of horror please

southeastastra · 06/07/2006 22:58

keep going its an endurance test!

ilovecaboose · 07/07/2006 19:15

I passed on my 8th or 9th - lost count . Got really, really, really nervous. Been driving for a couple of years now and never had a accident or anything.

Keep trying its worth it.

(P.S. those I know who passed on their first test are the worst drivers).

fullmoonfiend · 07/07/2006 19:31

At least you've got off your arse and gone for it - I'm disgusted with myself that it's July and my New Year's resolution has floundered after applying for new prov licence. Better luck next time, chuck. x

nikkie · 07/07/2006 21:14

My first test was a spectacular fail 6 major faults and 36 minor ones I was a bag of nerves.
Second time my MAm and the instructor only told me an hour before so I couldn't get so worked up!

expatinscotland · 07/07/2006 21:18

took dh 4 times to pass.

he's now only one more exam away from being a qualified driving instructor.

Perigrine · 07/07/2006 21:19

My Best Mate in SA still hasn't passed, she bought hers of a policeman

flutterbee · 07/07/2006 21:25

Oh CC you poor thing, I am about to put in for some more lessons and hope to take my test in about 8-9 weeks.

Put back in for the test with a cancellation and get it passed woman, you can do it.

LittleCarlos · 07/07/2006 21:29

Well my mil took her test 10 times and I swear the examiner only passed her cause he was fed up of seeing her (which knowing my mil is likely!)

(PS its Tamba)

puddingz · 08/07/2006 00:48

+Hugz+ The only positive thing I can think of is that you been through it so you have some idea about how you're going to feel/drive in the test conditions. My instructor is like yours - chatting throughout the lesson so if I get a robot then I'll probably wet my self from biting my lips. Go for it and when you pass we'll all be waiting here to celebrate with you

divamummy · 08/07/2006 21:53

can u tell me, if you fail is there certain date to get another one? im learning to drive so keep up your stories, girls.

charliecat · 08/07/2006 21:57

get another test? no the examiner was asking me to book another right away LOL, your theory test runs out after 2 years though. Let us know how you get on BTW

bakedpotato · 08/07/2006 22:20

CC -- nooo! Sod Trevor. I was dreading a stiff robot, if I had got one I know I'd have gone into the hedge.
View it as a trial run, it won't be so scary next time.
And again, sod Trevor.

charliecat · 08/07/2006 22:21

Cant tell you how much im grinning at sod trevor

charliecat · 08/07/2006 22:31

LOL Gonna remember this on my next test and blame the lot of you for my terrible hysteria

OP posts:
cheeseypeas · 08/07/2006 22:52

Took me 4 times to pass.

In the third test I basically turned into a gibbering, apologising, babbling freak. I made so many mistakes, the worse of which had to be missing a filter light due to staring at a tree!!! At the end of the test, as a sat there, chin-wobbling she just gave me this pitying yet horrified look.

Imagine my horror, when at test number 4 I am confronted with the same lady. After a minute or two, I realised she hadn't recognised me and I decided that there was no way I was going to 1. Act like a complete t**t in front of her again 2. Do anyting to let her remember me from before. So, I decided to try and take on the persona of a confident, happy-go-lucky driver. Amazingly IT WORKED. After a while, I really fell into the role and actually started to feel confident and hey presto - I PASSED.

Even if you are a good driver, I think the testers just really don't like putting nervous people on the road. If you can hide those nerves and try not even to mention anyting to do with being nervous, it really ups your chances. Plus mind over matter.

Good luck for next time! Don't give up.

BTW - took my dad 9 times to pass and that was in the 80s when it was allot bloody easier. My mum passed 1st time, despite having a panic attack haqlf way round - which I will never understand how she pulled that off because she scares the hell out of me even to this day and has put white spirits in the car instead of water - and driven it - twice!! (Art teach - Evian bottle mix up).
