A little Mornington Crescent - anyone care to join in?

I just fancy a change of focus.

I'll jump right in with Great Portland Street - I think I'm entitled to do that, with it being beyond the autumn equinox, but before Halloween?

Any takers?

I'm coming in late to this, but using the Da Vinci Handicap, I'm going right in there with a swift Mudchute.
I know, I know. It's bold.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 26/11/2013 12:52

Very bold indeed, so I'll reply with

Russell Square

AlbertGiordino · 26/11/2013 13:03

Guybrush welcome! Some decent use of the da vinci handicap there, Maud a signature ruthlessly efficient gimble (if I'm not mistaken) from your good self.

I've a couple of options, but given the propensity for Eddingtons that these games seem to produce (it must be a MN thing, I've never seen so many) and the DLR being high, I'm going for

Cyprus...

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 26/11/2013 13:23

Cyprus! HeadlessLady isn't going to like that!

MooncupGoddess · 26/11/2013 13:48

Since we're in that neck of the woods... and if we're playing 'wind up Headless Lady'... then:

Emirates Greenwich Peninsula

TheHeadlessLadyofCannock · 26/11/2013 13:51

No, Cyprus is fine by me! In fact I'd go so far as to say that anything else after that little Fritango caused by the plays of Russell Square and Mudchute would have been dangerous.

I'd forgotten about the Eddingtons, Albert, so thanks for the reminder. With that in mind I'm playing a dual facet to Shoreditch High Street, and fingers crossed MC in 5...

TheHeadlessLadyofCannock · 26/11/2013 13:53

Heavens, an x-post.

I think my move is still yar, though, seeing as Emirates GP counts as a demi-portal when Perkins is invoked.

AlbertGiordino · 26/11/2013 15:27

I've petitioned the Powers That Be, to add a WUTHLOC* to the 2014 variations. I'm sure they'll comply.

so we've gone
Cyprus
Emirates GP (demi-portal)
Shoreditch

I think the x-post has scuppered MC in 5, but has opened a fringe variation to Bromley-by-Bow

*Wind Up The Headless Lady Of Cannock

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 26/11/2013 15:40

I don't know. If we abide by the Schleswig-Holstein Precepts we might still get to MC in less than 6. Anyway, for now

Totteridge and Whetstone

TheHeadlessLadyofCannock · 26/11/2013 18:15

I feel very honoured to be the (possible) inspiration for a variation!

You're right, the original game plan is obviously lost to us now, but I like that B-by-B manoeuvre very much.

It's a quantum Emp from me to take us to Tower Gateway.

OverAndAbove · 26/11/2013 21:16

Well, well, well. Fine and - if I may say so - some quite resolute play.

I'm going to hand a Spoonerism and go with Cutty Sark Feel free to retort if you can

OP posts:
MooncupGoddess · 26/11/2013 22:54

For a moment there I thought you'd put us all in Nidd, OAndA - thank heavens it's a Tuesday, eh?

Not an easy situation to deal with at all, but my recollection of the D'Annunzio Rules is that I'm allowed an arabesque to Ealing Broadway.

MiniMonty · 27/11/2013 01:35

Well thank goodness for Albert dealing with that and bringing Headless back into line - the actual gap may have been reduced.

I'll go Easy from Ealing Broadway to calm things down

WARREN STREET

TheHeadlessLadyofCannock · 27/11/2013 09:21

Mini, that double play of Warren Street within a few moves is, I'm assuming, a Tark and not an honest mistake?

That being the case, I'll take us to Wanstead Park with a supradistal.

GuybrushThreepwoodMP · 27/11/2013 11:06

If I'm not mistaken, according to the Olympic rules, a Tark at this point might have just allowed an overground move.
Crouch Hill.

AlbertGiordino · 28/11/2013 09:44

As it is over 20 hours since the last move, I think the overground is now blocked.

Therefore a sneaky Covent Garden is the absolute best I can do at the moment.

MooncupGoddess · 28/11/2013 10:24

Drat. I was planning to post last night but I picked up my copy of Mornington Crescent: The Championship Matches 1953-78 to check a couple of details and the next thing I knew it was time for bed. I really think that was the game's golden age, there were some extraordinarily thrilling endgames.

Anyway, I can now return to the fray invigorated and full of fresh ideas. So, a reverse Wolfson to Perivale for me.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 28/11/2013 15:27

Hmm. At this juncture, I think it can only be

Mansion House

TheHeadlessLadyofCannock · 28/11/2013 20:20

I love a Wolfson!

Seeing as the Bakerloo is currently pitched at evens, I'm going to Canons Park (allowable under Marconi 1998).

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 28/11/2013 21:46

Well, in that case, and as it's before 10pm, I'll do a Cambridge Manoeuvre to

Neasden

MooncupGoddess · 28/11/2013 22:34

Ooh, this is beginning to get interesting.

Caldedonian Road

MooncupGoddess · 28/11/2013 22:39

Obviously I mean Caledonian Road Blush

AlbertGiordino · 29/11/2013 09:22

bit excessive Mooncup - Caldedonian Road perfectly exceptibal under the MC Common Mistypes (Allowables) All Ed. 2011- Athough I wouldnt expect you to have a tome like that in your library...

Anyway as Blondie said; "the Tide is High", so I'm playing

Embankment

MooncupGoddess · 29/11/2013 16:28

I hope you're not dissing my library, Albert Hmm

However! I realise that if I double under from Embankment using the Schleswig-Holstein Manoeuvre I can get directly to

Mornington Crescent
