I am sorry you have been spoken to so rudely Mosschops, but I think people need to be aware of the fact that the word 'racism' should not be used lightly.
How can you compare your treatemnt to that of say an Asian woman who is spat on and called a 'fucking Paki' by feral youths.or an Eastern European who has had his door kicked in by BNP supporters?
Put it in context.
The Welsh have put up with enormous amounts of shit over the years and still do.
On a daily basis I have to fight for my right to live my life through the medium of my mother tongue,be it in doctors' waiting rooms, dental appointments, ensuring the HV fills in the Welsh side of my children's redbooks, returning my MSc application form because it is not in Welsh,as I have specifically asked.
When I walk into a shop in a town where well over 80% of people speak Welsh and my simple Welsh enquiry is met with a slack jawed look and a 'Wot?' or even a snappy 'English' then yes,my blood begins to boil.
(I don't expect everyone to speak Welsh, but I expect those who don't to be courteous enough to acknowledge the fact in a civilised fashion.)
It is all hassle I can do without yet i diligently make (courteous) complaints, write e mails and generally stay on the case.
My latest gripe is with M&S who have signs in their Llandudno store in nonsensical Welsh.I have been complaining about them since January (although to be fair, they are now on the case)and on more than one occasion have been told by some smart arse that they are in 'South Walian Welsh'
Have a look at this link to a pressure group I am a member of which may help put it into context even more.
Cymuned
I am half English by the way and very proud of the fact too.
