maybe if it comes up again - say something like - well it was about 800 years ago - I wasn't there at the time ! And if you want to speak welsh - I am not stopping you.

(My SIL married a Welshman - she is learning Welsh and speaks it with her kids - so I presume if she can go to Welsh classes so can the locals if they want to).

But fattiemumma Some English people DO say things like that too about hte Welsh and the scotish and the Irish and every other country too and seem to feel that it is perfectly acceptable too. I have been shocked and astounded at some of the comments I've heard in the years I've been living in England.
