Reports of Zombie's demise...

have been greatly exaggerated. She may be a wee bit battered and bruised, but she bends and doesn't break.

Most of you probably know her back story but, for those who don't, here's a very brief recap:

The last 2 1/2 years have been absolutely horrendous: family crises, a breast cancer diagnosis and 20 months of treatment for that, bereavements and sorting out her late MIL's estate. As you can imagine, she found it a struggle at times.

Just under a year ago, DZOH began an "inappropriate" on-line relationship with a woman he "met" playing scrabble on Facebook. At the time he was spending most of his time at his mum's house in Nottingham sorting things out and putting it on the market. The on-line relationship fairly quickly progressed to a full blown physical affair. The woman lives in Wales and he would pay her train fare to come to Nottingham to see him. Zombie was fully aware of everything that was going on and tried to do everything she could to save her marriage. He left Zombie in mid-February, first staying in Nottingham before moving in with her in mid-March. He continued to come back to DDS to take Zombie to her hospital treatments. In mid-May he started making reference to coming back to her. He finally did so in mid-August. Two weeks after he came back they went to Kos for a fortnight. Halfway through the holiday he told her that he was leaving as soon as they returned to the UK. Which he duly did on Friday, 13th September.

Zombie went through all the trauma, drama and devastation between October and August. That is behind her. She's relieved that that it is finally over. A few nights ago she realised that she was sitting here completely relaxed and smiling for no reason. It's as though an enormous weight has been lifted from her.

She's currently packing up his belongings, deciding what she needs to replace, etc. He will come with a man and a van in a few weeks time to remove everything. There are obviously other pracicalities to be sorted out but they are doing so in as amicable a manner as possible.

Can Zombie please ask those of you who are Facebook friends with her NOT to say anything publicly on there about any of this.

Oh, that sounds fabulous sol. I just love the atmosphere of old, specifically ruined, buildings, they seem to have more soul.

Dancing amongst them must have been quite mesmerising for the audience , and affecting for you.

Zombie's wedding sounds stunning. Dramatic and romantic.

Morning all - and another beautiful sunrise here. It's been clear and cold all week and we have had the most amazing dawn and dusk skies.

I came out of work on Tuesday at 4pm and the sky was red gold all around, it was stunning, I took a photo.

Wow!

I am staring at a cache of gifts that need to be wrapped.......and I used to love giftwrapping-feel very old and miserable so

MY sister came round today and has scoffed the stollen and the special Lebkuchen

I am going to attempt to make a panettone now,so it may well be a long night

It really was a "wow" - I opened the door and the light was red and gold, I've never seen anything like it. I took the photo with my phone and rushed home hoping I'd have time to use my camera but in those 10 minutes it all faded.

Last day of term and all's well here. FidGirl's better and I sent her in even though she only had 3 hours school. I thought it would do her good and end the term on a more positive note.

Her teacher commented (for the first time ever) that she still looked pale and ill and FG asked if she could write an exam she missed on Weds which apparently surprised the teacher, I told FG it would. But a positive ending for her nonetheless.

And I got a lovely bottle of Sekt (German sparkling wine - knocks the socks off Cava) from my boss with a really nicely worded card. For once the card meant more than the bottle He wrote how well I do my job - we've only been working together since August and my previous boss had demoted me and told everyone how incompetent I am (and worse, one example - she threatened me with SS). She's now been transferred but the whole thing lasted 10 months and was v unpleasant. When I thanked him he said loads of nice things, he is v reserved and there's no HR system here which would give me any feedback so it meant a lot to me.

It has been a hell of a year in many ways, not in a good way. And the support I've had here and from the fabulous Zombie (Dustbin & PMs) has really helped

Sekt always reminds me of the Fassbinder film 'The Bitter Tears of Petra von Kant'-I felt like her yesterday! trailing around at cava o'clock all nihilistic and reminiscing the low-lights of my life
