Reports of Zombie's demise...

IamtheZombie · 30/09/2013 16:56

have been greatly exaggerated. She may be a wee bit battered and bruised, but she bends and doesn't break.

Most of you probably know her back story but, for those who don't, here's a very brief recap:

The last 2 1/2 years have been absolutely horrendous: family crises, a breast cancer diagnosis and 20 months of treatment for that, bereavements and sorting out her late MIL's estate. As you can imagine, she found it a struggle at times.

Just under a year ago, DZOH began an "inappropriate" on-line relationship with a woman he "met" playing scrabble on Facebook. At the time he was spending most of his time at his mum's house in Nottingham sorting things out and putting it on the market. The on-line relationship fairly quickly progressed to a full blown physical affair. The woman lives in Wales and he would pay her train fare to come to Nottingham to see him. Zombie was fully aware of everything that was going on and tried to do everything she could to save her marriage. He left Zombie in mid-February, first staying in Nottingham before moving in with her in mid-March. He continued to come back to DDS to take Zombie to her hospital treatments. In mid-May he started making reference to coming back to her. He finally did so in mid-August. Two weeks after he came back they went to Kos for a fortnight. Halfway through the holiday he told her that he was leaving as soon as they returned to the UK. Which he duly did on Friday, 13th September.

Zombie went through all the trauma, drama and devastation between October and August. That is behind her. She's relieved that that it is finally over. A few nights ago she realised that she was sitting here completely relaxed and smiling for no reason. It's as though an enormous weight has been lifted from her.

She's currently packing up his belongings, deciding what she needs to replace, etc. He will come with a man and a van in a few weeks time to remove everything. There are obviously other pracicalities to be sorted out but they are doing so in as amicable a manner as possible.

Can Zombie please ask those of you who are Facebook friends with her NOT to say anything publicly on there about any of this.

Onwards and upwards. Wink

One of the advantages of allowing one's children to survive to adulthood is that tous est acceptable Grin. How old are yours sol?

Those sobranie were lovely, I would choke on a cigarillo though, sorry Smile

An MMC sounds tempting ...

Fiderer · 12/12/2013 07:12

MMC does sound tempting. Love the smell of cigars, don't think I've ever had a cigarillo. Have a hazy smoky memory fogged by imbibing various fluids over the years.

I'm in Glühwein land BBB. Where today it is foggy and bone-chillingly cold. How were you watching the flight? Sounds like a fun thing to do with my 6th yr group, I get to do the fun stuff with them as they've been swotting for an exam next week.

ZombieFromTheRealmOfGory · 12/12/2013 08:44

Morning!

Fid, have a look at this site:

www.flightradar24.com/51.24,4.08/6

You can also track a individual flight.

Fiderer · 12/12/2013 09:23

Wow, they'll love that. Thanks Zombie, an easy lesson for me Wink

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 12/12/2013 10:16

Yes! That's what I was on, it's great.
There's a thing where you can watch global flight movements, that's unbelievable, don't know if that's the same site.

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 12/12/2013 23:22

Evening everyone, lovely sunny day here although town clogged with shoppers. Same everywhere I imagine.

Invitations ordered, no rows yet Shock

ZombieFromTheRealmOfGory · 14/12/2013 17:19

Afternoon all.

Zombie is delighted the class enjoyed that site, Fid.

She hopes everyone is well today. It's been very, very blustery here.

She started a new thread late last night that she thought was quite amusing but not a single person has posted on it. Sad

Would you guys take a look please and tell her if she's got a sick SOH?

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/_chat/1938940-Spoofs-and-practical-jokes-that-are-just-good-fun-NOTHING-malicious?

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 14/12/2013 18:59

Hi Zomb Grin

Definitely not sick SOH. It did make me smile but, I have to admit, I'm not a great practical joke fan. I've never been the recipient or perpetrator, so I guess it's just not the style in my group of friends.

It may be more amusing for me having met you?

Some people on MN may have a problem about the £££s involved in the Georges Cinq story? I'm surprised at lack of response too though.

Will try to think of something to bump.

Oh, and not a lot of action today as all out manically shopping?

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 14/12/2013 19:07

Does it count as a practical joke if I've made cottage pie for supper and I tell everyone that there's no ketchup?

And there really isn't Shock

ZombieFromTheRealmOfGory · 15/12/2013 00:01

The PO have arrived. Zombie shall ignore them. Grin

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 15/12/2013 23:31

Good plan.
I am surprised actually, I thought there would be lots of practical jokers on MN.
Did Zombie go to a German market? Was that this w/e? Was it fun?

The park is nearly empty and feels different already, all done with no bad feeling Smile (as far as we can tell, fx)

Fiderer · 16/12/2013 06:20

I thought there'd be more too - but sometimes threads don't take off & there seems to be no reason for it.

Morning all, I've no idea what kind of day it is as it's still dark Grin Boys have left and I'm waiting for FidGirl to get up.

She was off on Friday and I've had a bloody awful time with the school about her absences. They don't believe she's ill, they don't believe me when I say she is, we had a big row about it last week, I had been avoiding the confrontation which blew up in my face so sent an email apologising - I am so sick of the whole thing. I get on really well with the HOY who's my boss and works in the same office but he then had to be informed and it makes my job awkward.

It got to the point where our GP would give me a note for her without seeing her as it would be a virus and there's nothing he could do. He then started to charge €3 for a note and I told the school how ridiculous it was and how I (as a colleague) don't like the fact that they are effectively telling me I'm lying.

Anyway, have made her (foul) vanilla and raspberry tea and am off to get her up.

On a more cheerful and less stressful note, just seen a photo of a v young Peter O'Toole. Oh my.

Fiderer · 16/12/2013 06:52

Poor girl still feels awful, she has a strep throat and I've sent her back to bed. Which'll mean another round of raised eyebrows at school. And the comments.

I think it's awful she is ill and they make her feel guilty and defensive about it. And me.

At least I can pour the vanilla tea down the sink. It's called "Heiße Liebe" - "hot love". It's only fruit tea!

ZombieFromTheRealmOfGory · 16/12/2013 07:19

Morning.

Zombie may post another of her late DH's masterpieces later and see if that wakes it up.

It was this weekend that Zombie was supposed to go to the market but she didn't make it. Her friend ended up in hospital week before last with internal bleeding. They found she has a sliding hiatus hernia which has caused stomach ulcers and oesophagitis. Also, Zombie's IBS has been really horrid for the last 10 days. So neither of us felt up to it. Ah well, there's always next year.

Bewitched, will that mean more time at the Windmill coming up?

Fid, the school's attitude is frankly appalling. Zombie hopes FidGirl feels better soon.

Zombie's agenda for today includes an appointment with the physiotherapist at 10:00 followed by a visit to Tesco. This afternoon she has an appointment at the GP surgery to have a possibly dodgy mole checked out.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Fiderer · 16/12/2013 07:51

Zombie sorry about your friend and that you're not up to 'German marketing'. I suspect the English version may be better than the original Wink but I may be feeling a bit fed up with life here atm.

ZombieFromTheRealmOfGory · 16/12/2013 23:53

Zombie's not sure if it's better any longer, Fid. Another friend who went (and has vast experience of both original German markets and the Brum market) told Zombie that it's got bigger but definitely not better. The more stalls they put up (which are just other versions of the previous and existing stalls), the less room there is for the crowd to move around. Apparently it was heaving to the point where it was virtually impossible to get around. Zombie imagines the pickpockets had a field day.

She is pleased to report that the GP she saw doesn't think the mole on her leg is anything to worry about. Although it is very similar to the benign seborrhoeic keratoses on her back, this one has recently become extremely itchy and even when it wasn't itching, she was very "aware" of it. The GP she saw thinks it is just another seborrhoeic keratosis and that the reason it's itchy is because it's so dry. So, Zombie is to intensively moisturise it for 4 weeks and then see the GP again.

She has a fairly clear day tomorrow so will probably try to catch up on the laundry backlog. It's either that or go nekkid. Grin

ZombieFromTheRealmOfGory · 16/12/2013 23:55

Oh, yes. She also came away from the physotherapist with even more exercises! It will now take her about an hour and a bit a day to do them all.

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 17/12/2013 00:49

Oh, shame about the market Zombie, you not going and it not being so great. Really annoying when "improvements" are no such thing.
Very glad to hear that the mole is not cause for concern.
Over an hour a day sounds like a lot of exercises, could you do half one day and half the next?

Listen, tomorrow, sod the laundry.
Light the fire, pour the Wine, or whisky, and go nekkid! Who's to know?

Yes, more time at the windmill, but not till the new year, bit frantic this week getting it ready for Christmas rental.

Fid the school thing sounds so difficult, hard to understand where they're coming from and what they hope to achieve. Do they think no children ever get genuinely ill?

Hope Fidgirl is feeling better Smile, give her some Cake from me, chocolate of course. Always best for a sore throat. S'true.

That sol is obviously shmoozing in her onesie and that's it, we're dumped Grin

sanssoleil · 17/12/2013 01:02

I haven't been to the German Markt for the last two years "Zombie*-It is heaving all the time and it needs a severe edit as you say

However still some lovely things, felty stuff, trad.stuff and amazing craft stalls

IBS is a bitch,I am sorry you have had flareup,I am paranoid about moles

Hope you have got a good body butter or have you been advised?

I may be nekked too as everything needs ironing

Fid Sorry to here Fidmadchen is poorly and school being unhelpful-I remember all that business when I was around 15-I am pretty gobsmacked at the pastoral care in schools hereEnvy
