Reports of Zombie's demise...

have been greatly exaggerated. She may be a wee bit battered and bruised, but she bends and doesn't break.

Most of you probably know her back story but, for those who don't, here's a very brief recap:

The last 2 1/2 years have been absolutely horrendous: family crises, a breast cancer diagnosis and 20 months of treatment for that, bereavements and sorting out her late MIL's estate. As you can imagine, she found it a struggle at times.

Just under a year ago, DZOH began an "inappropriate" on-line relationship with a woman he "met" playing scrabble on Facebook. At the time he was spending most of his time at his mum's house in Nottingham sorting things out and putting it on the market. The on-line relationship fairly quickly progressed to a full blown physical affair. The woman lives in Wales and he would pay her train fare to come to Nottingham to see him. Zombie was fully aware of everything that was going on and tried to do everything she could to save her marriage. He left Zombie in mid-February, first staying in Nottingham before moving in with her in mid-March. He continued to come back to DDS to take Zombie to her hospital treatments. In mid-May he started making reference to coming back to her. He finally did so in mid-August. Two weeks after he came back they went to Kos for a fortnight. Halfway through the holiday he told her that he was leaving as soon as they returned to the UK. Which he duly did on Friday, 13th September.

Zombie went through all the trauma, drama and devastation between October and August. That is behind her. She's relieved that that it is finally over. A few nights ago she realised that she was sitting here completely relaxed and smiling for no reason. It's as though an enormous weight has been lifted from her.

She's currently packing up his belongings, deciding what she needs to replace, etc. He will come with a man and a van in a few weeks time to remove everything. There are obviously other pracicalities to be sorted out but they are doing so in as amicable a manner as possible.

Can Zombie please ask those of you who are Facebook friends with her NOT to say anything publicly on there about any of this.

Onwards and upwards. Wink

Good evening, I hope Zombie has recovered, I didn't envy her long journey home.
Mind you, someone on the Meet-Up Post Mortem thread says she only got home just now!

IamtheZombie · 02/12/2013 18:22

Evening!!

Thanks for your compliments, Jacks and Fid.

Zombie has pretty much recovered, Bewitched. She was a bit knackered when she got home and just flopped for the evening. She got a good night's sleep last night though.

She had her first physiotherapy appointment this afternoon. Physio took a full history, poked, prodded, moved legs around and has given Zombie some more exercises specifically designed to loosen and build up her gluteal muscles. Zombie is also to continue doing the back exercises. She felt pretty good immediately after but there are a few muscles whinging a bit about the stretching they received. Next appointment is in 2 weeks.

She's not sure what she's doing tomorrow. Considering going to Shrewsbury for a bit of Christmas shopping tomorrow.

Fiderer · 02/12/2013 20:38

My muscles whinge a lot without prodding Grin Sounds like a good thing for you.

My weekend sadly wasn't as gleeful. My exH made all my children cry. It was grim, glad it's over.

IamtheZombie · 02/12/2013 22:13

Oh, Fid, what a wanker. Zombie knows that it all feels unrelenting and endless for you but one day it WILL all be in your past. ((((( HUGS )))))

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 03/12/2013 00:02

That's awful Fid, so sorry.

I hope it doesn't take too long for you all to recover.

What is it with people who can't be civilised, especially when children are involved?

I'm glad you all have your trip home to look forward toSmile

Fiderer · 03/12/2013 02:43

Me too, thanks both.

Poor FidGirl was upset because I made the 3 of us dinner Friday night and she was pleased we were eating together till he blew up about something and stormed off.
FidBoy2 stayed at friends all weekend and when I called and asked if he wanted to come home and have dinner on Sat night here as the others were out he cried because he said he didn't want to be here as long as his dad was around, even if he wasn't physically in the house.
And FidBoy1 (who's nearly 17) was holding back tears at a typically unnecessary sarcastic and abrasive outburst from exH about teen not being ready to go out at 11am on a Sunday.

Still, he has increasingly little influence on them and as I brought them up pretty much on my own, I hope (and see) they value kindness and consideration, 2 things he seems to totally lack. And the weekend's over

I bought myself a lovely big bunch of flowers on Sat as a rare treat and when things were fraught I'd smell it and admire it.

greenhill · 03/12/2013 06:39

Flowers for you fiderer

Fiderer · 03/12/2013 07:41

Blush Thank you greenhill I've never been given flowers before, am very touched, that's really kind of you.

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 03/12/2013 08:53

Good grief Fid, he sounds like an utter twat Sad. I hope you don't have to tolerate that very often. There must be a huge sigh of relief when he's gone.

(ps. I gave you two bunches of flowers on Friday Wink)

Fiderer · 03/12/2013 09:31

Oops so you did Bewitched Sorry Blush Was too on edge to remember (understatement) which annoys me too, rather be calm and insouciant. But hell, it's over. He's stayed a couple of nights in the last 2 years but never so long.
There's still so much buzzing around my head and sometimes I find keeping busy with other things till it's not so raw helps, other times I find it better to list it out and pack it away iykwim. My head's a bit all over the place today. The weekend really shook me.

Positive: it's a frosty sunny lovely winter day. FidGirl got at the tinsel and had tinsel-draped fairy lights on when I got home from work last night so the house is looking festive. I sent off invoices for translation work yesterday and the money's already in my account which is great.

And: I am really very grateful for the support on here. Flowers all round.

You shameless wench. At what stage of the debauchery was that?

IamtheZombie · 03/12/2013 10:34

As we were leaving the pub at closing time, Fid. Zombie may have been a bit merry.

Fiderer · 03/12/2013 10:41
