Don't know why I need to ask this question - I got dumped yesterday Sad, but for future reference....where does everybody stand on the shaving / waxing issue?

i.e. Once you settle down with somebody, do you still shave / wax everyday, within an inch of your life, or is it acceptable to be a bit stubbley / sandpapery on occasion?

I only ask as I've always been friends with a razor, but I find it takes up too much time that could be better spent entertaining ds / washing / ironing / tidying up / putting the bins out, etc, etc.

but I don't want to be imitating Sherwood Forrest if every other female (and some men too!) are as smooth as a baby's bum.

Could never ask this question in RL and have never been that close to another lady to find out.

I'm thinking of starting a hairy revolution!!

By the way, I'm referring to LEGS here, but thoughts on any other areas will be considered too!

Thank you Wink

Get them waxed, less hassle.
And yes I mean your foof aswell

But tbh if the reason he dumped you then either youre really hairy or hes a tosser

Daisyb00 · 14/05/2006 11:16

Ohhh no WB!

We didn't split up because of hairyness Blush!!! - That's a whole different thread!!!

Sorry, I see how I've given that idea! No, at the moment I shave every day, but I'm wondering if I'm going to have to do this forever, or if there comes a time when you don't have to bother with it so much!

As for getting my foof done, I think I would be too embarrased to get it done at a beauty salon, despite knowing that they do that kind of thing everyday and having had a baby (where all ideas of being shy went out of the window!!) Blush Smile

I know its a chore shaving all the time but its nice to feel smooth isnt it?

NotQuiteCockney · 14/05/2006 11:34

I only shave legs, not pits (think they look icky no matter what you do with them, frankly, and hate the ingrown hairs). And I only shave legs if I'll be wearing shorts. Don't shave bits.

Legs are fine with full-grown leg hair, they're only icky and sandpapery when it's growing in.

Seona1973 · 14/05/2006 13:00

I shave legs and armpits once a week in the bath. I would never be bothered to shave them more than that except during the summer (I might shave every 2/3 days then - certainly not every day). That way I wouldnt be exposing stubbly/hairy legs in my shorts.

TambaTheDragonSlayer · 14/05/2006 13:02

I shave legs and armpits everyday and immac the other every 3 days. Also moisterise them every day.

Daisyb00 · 14/05/2006 13:22

Well, I made the fatal mistake of thinking that a 'postage stamp' foof would be sexy. I completely underestimated the wrath of the 'grow back itch'!!, having forgotten to 'maintain it' for 2 days and spent the day secretly scratching, hoping nobody saw and thought I had crabs or something!! Grin Grin

Sorry, not the nicest thing to think about over Sunday lunch!!!!

LOL daisy, thats why i use the cream and not a razor. Tried shaving it once and Ouch! Got nasty rash and itching - never again!

Me and my friend tried waxing once but we were drinking at the time so decided to cover hers in loads of wax so it could all be pulled off in one piece - big mistake! we left it on too long, I yanked it off and it pulled a layer of skin off too! It bleed loads Shock

Saying that though, I had a nasty incident with the cream the other day... hmmm maybe natures way is better after all Grin

Daisyb00 · 14/05/2006 20:29

Yes, the things us ladies go through to look good!
Have decided I will only shave when it's either that or plait it!!
Having said that I think I will always shave my arm pits - even though the pain is soooo bad when you put deodorant on straight after!!
As for the other thing, I don't think that, shakey hands and hot wax make a good combination - and it would take me ages to pluck up the courage to get it done in a salon!! Smile

I shave underarms, bikini line and legs everyday in the shower. But I cheat and use shower gel to do it with so i'm washing at the same time so it doesn't take long.

When I was pg and when my bump got too big I stopped the bikini line because I couldn't see to do it!

Witchycat · 14/05/2006 20:33

Haven't shaved legs in years. Life's too short and men who think it's important aren't worth bothering with.

(Shall I duck now?)

PanicPants · 14/05/2006 20:35

Oh Daisy I use dove deodorant- the solid one - and that doesn't hurt at all.

But I can't bare the regrowth thats needed to wax, I tried it a couple of times but I always get too impatient and shave it off.

DumbledoresGirl · 14/05/2006 20:38

Gosh I can't believe people are seriously sayng they shave every day! I shave armpits when I notice they need it (more often in summer) and legs I suppose every few weeks in summer, not at all in winter (not much hair grows there nowadays) and bikini line, when I am going swimming (hardly ever) or when at the beach (once a year). I am very hairy down below though so sometimes I just have a blitz down there for the fu of it, but every day?????? Shock

FrannyandZooey · 14/05/2006 20:42

I utterly second everything DG has said :)

I would have to be head over heels in love to shave every week, never mind every day.

Hey I just bought a swimsuit with a shorts style bottom so that's one less part to ever think about shaving :)

DumbledoresGirl · 14/05/2006 20:45

FandZ I bought a costume like that a few years back and dh hates me wearing it! I think he would like me to shave every day!

PanicPants · 14/05/2006 20:46

I do bikini line so I can swim with ds, and couldn't bare not to do underarms every day. In the dead of winter when I'm at work I do occassionally miss out the legs, but not in summer as I spend most of the time in skirts.

FrannyandZooey · 14/05/2006 20:47

DG my dp thinks himself lucky when he gets a look in, he doesn't care what state it's in Shock

DumbledoresGirl · 14/05/2006 20:47

Well there is that....

Filyjonk · 14/05/2006 20:49

Bloody hell, no I don't shave every day, life's too fecking short.

Shave if other people are likely to notice its needed. Otherwise-well I could be spending that time reading or knitting, couldn't I?

And am looking out for one of those swimming costumes, FaZ, any pointers?

Twiglett · 14/05/2006 20:50
Shock
FrannyandZooey · 14/05/2006 20:51

La Redoute - don't think I can do links to that site, but will go and look for the name of the swimsuit

DumbledoresGirl · 14/05/2006 20:51

Filyjonk, get one with a minimal bikini top. I bought the shorts like bottoms and a tank top like top and it is too much. Fortunately, mine has strings at the side so you can redurce the coverage of the top but I really should have bought a little bra top.

Filyjonk · 14/05/2006 20:52

Although have to confess that a depilator is a fine and useful thing to have once Spring arrives.

Shaving for women was promoted by gillette as a way to sell razors, btw.

And none of my French friends shave. And they have no problems pulling. (though might help that none of them have toddlers clinging to their hairy legs)

PanicPants · 14/05/2006 20:52

Does anyone else shave every day? Have just pointed this out to dp who looked astounded. I've always automatically done it without thinking but now I see there is another way :o

alexsmum · 14/05/2006 20:53

never do my lady garden ever.did once and it was so uncomfy and itchy..never again.
underarms and legs when i notice.
life is too short, and we're adults, we're supposed to have hair.
